2 years with my 2005 C2S from OPC Guildford and I've now had a new gearbox, front suspension, coil packs, heat shield and as of this week a new rms and ims.
Including labour and 4 x Panamera's for 2 days - 1 week, how much do you think that cost?
Glad I've extended the warranty till Sept 2014!

Never had so much value out of a warrantee - would rather they just built things a little better though..
Wouldn't be surprised if the dropped the length of the extended warrantee - If our examples are anything to go by, things nearing the end of that 10 years must be costing them a fortune.
Was swearing at my car this morning when it went back in - but having been driving a beemer 320d today I am missing my pork greatly!

I really wouldn't be surprised if they dropped it to 6 years or so - but it must be quite hard to quantify the loss vs the benefit in keeping up prices of the older cars and added value to the brand.One wonders why they dont just not bother.
I'd be on a different car now if it wasn't for the warrantee - but they've been great about it, and I'd happily buy another of similar age knowing they'll always fix it up when it goes wrong. A good option for those of us that haven't got 90k knocking around for a new one!
30k miles in my previous 03 C4S and 10k miles in my 55C2s no problems except warranty claim on airbag warning light(faulty wiring loom)on C2S.
Did change a couple of coil packs on C4S but consider those wearing consumables as they degrade over time. Am the third owner of the 997 was the fifth of the C4S.

I presume you are joking? The dealers love the warranty - commission on sales, retained custom due to terms, and work due to claims - and Porsche don't underwrite it. My bet is those that do make a good margin too.One wonders why they dont just not bother.

I guess the issue is without the warranty you'd be spitting feathers about how crap your £70k+ car is. I have two cars and my DD is an A5 that I bought last year. I decided to buy an extended warranty as it was out of manufacturers warranty and am very happy I did because I've had three issues in just over 12 months, the fuel filler flap stuck, the passenger window stopped working and now there is an issue with the manifold that will need replacing. If I was paying for these repairs the car would be sold asap even if I drop a wedge of cash. Even with two years warranty still in place I expect to change it next year, in part because I just don't find it a very exciting car to own / drive.

I've been thinking about selling for the last week or so but don't know what to replace it with. An original 911 is an option + an RS4 that will a actually work. Otherwise I'm afraid to say that Panamera's are growing on me... On the hire/loan car thing, I believe many manufacturers use this to buoy the slightly-used market - many of the 100 to 3000 mile cars available on sale for example. An easy way to discount a poorly selling item without having to take a hit on 'new' sticker price, and allowing them to shift units.

- for the record, this an assumption.
I used to be a service manager for a company selling ind air compressors, the warranty agreement with the manufacture was avg at best just covering the cost of repair most times, but of course your would have good machines that never had problems and others that were complete nightmares, you take the rough with the smooth, and would guess its the some with OPC, and if its any thing like our profit used to be on service work they don't go hungry. IMHO of course.

..The fact that so many people have had to use their guarantees is a shocking advert for the cars I think, 6/7 C2/4's having to have engine and gearbox rebuilds @25/30,000 miles, my friends has had both done too at his own cost.
My 6-4S has cost me £6K on scheduled/unscheduled maintenance in 2 1/2 years, which altho' unpleasant isn't that bad really.

Replace rear main seal
Replace slave cylinder
Replace Intermediate Shaft incl shaft sealing ring, pan-head screw x 8, screw x 6, pan-head screw x 12, housing, o-ring, hexagon-head bolt x 3, hexagon nut, sealing ring x 2, aluminium sealing ring, clutch operating.
Replaced OSR window seal
Replaced coil packs incl. gasket and 6 x ignition coils
Gearbox
Setup
Front strut
Health check
Vibration damper, hexagon nut x 3, hexagon nut, pan-head screw x 2, replacement t?, pan-head screw x 12, lock nut, hexagon nut.
The above comes to £9k of which £6k is parts. £1k to extend the warranty seems like a good investment.
They won't share anything before I purchased the car in Sept 2011. The above seems a lot in 2 years + a major service at £2.7k incl. warranty ext.

Rears would only last 3-6 miles.
