seems freshly serviced, new rad and stat etc.

It's not that cheap really, but if you have to have a manual then maybe it's worth a punt.

I know of a nice 1998 auto for £1500 ono.

i wouldn't want an auto to be honest, and from the service history etc. i thought it seemed like a good deal!

seems this engine avoided any nikisil issues, so other than that there doesn't seem to be a lot to watch out for...

i was assuming as its a 4.4 v8, but i guess thats a given. i'd like to run a v8 for 1.2 4cyl money but thats just not going to happen. 35mpg @70 beats my mx5 at the moment, though obviously i'd expect to chew through fuel on the b roads...

unless, disco, you're thinking massive electrical failure/ blown engine etc. ?

Don't listen to all the scaremongers - just do it, you won't regret it and £1900 is a good price for a manual!

That looks like an excellent buy! If I could afford to insure the thing, I'd buy it straight off, a manual with leather and good history.. I echo the above, at that price you'll only regret letting it go! With 10 months MOT, it'd be rude not to.
