What an end to a perfect drive

Went for a drive with the missus and was waiting at a junction when some w
ker ploughed in to the back of us.
Will phone insurers tomorrow but some help required as is this repairable ,will it be classed as a cat c if fixed or what any help appreciated.This is my pride and joy and am completely gutted

Thanks Quinny obviously I want it back on the road and am prepared for being without car for a while.
Just a question just before calling Heritage in the morning will they pick a TVR specialist or will I have to find one and will I have to fight them not to right it off.I am fully comp and have all the other persons details as had to call police and ambulance as both of us are suffering a bit of whiplash.
Another query is how do they repair it was the body a whole section or do they cut away rear section and stick another one on?
I am pretty sure chassis is ok as was able to drive home.

Steve, sorry to see your car like that but not alls lost.. Racing green have their own bodyshop cant comment on their work but do this sort of thing all the time,
Being written off is all down to how much you have insured it for, Its got nothing at all to do with what they are going for in papers at the moment its all down to the figure youve insured it for,

When my Chimaera was crunched the local TVR garage quoted high enough for the insurers to tell be it would be a write-off. I asked them to hold off making the decision and got a quote from Plasticman (David Hillis) which was half the price and my P&J was saved!!
David is based just South of Bedford so it's pretty close to you I would guess?

Really feel for you , hope you are both ok and if you have tingling in the ends of your fingers , the whip lash needs investigateing.
I stoved in the N/Side rear 1/4 of my first Griff ( 96 model, absolutely gutted ) in Germany when i reversed into a post. It needed a new half rear wing , but only a full rear wing section is/was available in 08. This was £1,000.
The repairers ( tvr specialists) grafted in the half section above the wheel arch and did a really good job, i can highly recomend them. The car was a rare Dark Blue ( Mallard) Pearl finish and they had to paint the whole car to match it. They were also very helpfull and easy to deal with. They are based just outside Bishops Stortford in Herts, cant remember their name , but they do lots of TVRs and i was able to inspect their work before i gave the go ahead. The final bill was an eye watering £6,200 .
Your car looks like it will need a complete rear end , which wont be cheap. Dif to tell if any Chassis damage without getting it up on a ramp. If they write it off , insist on haveing the salvage back. You can then either get it repaired or sell/break it for spares.
One thing that is worth checking , which the Assessor missed on my car is for damage to the B-Post , door striker area and the door latch suround area. On my car When i hit the post the body Moved/Flexed , closeing the door gap up on impact and then springing back again. This cracked the Fibre glass around both the striker on the door and the b-post. I only checked it as i have crash/restoration experience.

Gutted for you mate, I know I've had to look anxiously in my rear view mirrors once or twice recently, not a nice feeling, I can't imagine what it feels like to hear that awful crunching noise.... ;(.
I'd be surprised if the chassis is damaged, if it was you'd probably have petrol pouring all over the place as that's mounted at the rear of the chassis and wpuild have to be damaged before the chassis was hit.
Assuming that they don't write ot off and I don't see why they should I'd be calling Surface and Design in Blackpool.

So sorry to see your P & J looking out-of-shape Steve; feel for ya. Pretty sure it's repairable though.
I notice you have (had) smoked rears. As you probably know, they're unavailable new; believe me, I've done my searches; they're unobtanium. Just keep an eye on what's coming up on Ebay; very occasionally they'll make an appearance (Cavalier GSI 2000).

Thanks guys for all your support hopefully car going to Racing green for repair will let you all know developments.
Annoying was the fact that I was toying with the idea of finishing tiling the mother in laws kitchen floor or as was such a sunny day going for a blast.Unfortunately that day I made the wrong decision and more annoying is that it is coming into events season and was due to go to some classic events but hopefully will be ready for BSG in the summer

Yes you probably did,on its way to Racing Green hopefully for repair.They have had brief look and think she is repairable apparently needs new fuel tank aswell as dented was fitted with ally type.
Just hope I dont have to much of a fight with insurance company trying to write it off as would like her back.Fingers crossed will keep you posted

Are they making it from unobtanium? That's outrageous if it's only a rear end unit, lights, fittings, carpet, re-spray upto doors . .
Difficulty for us commenting is we can't see what other damage there is, but would love to know how they get to £11k . .

It must be the hot weather as the same very nearly happened to me. Pulled up to the lights looked in the RV mirror and saw a very panicked face followed by screaching tyres, luckily for me he stopped a couple of feet from me.
