Insurance respray
Discussion
So recently I had someone park into the front of my car and out a nasty scratch on my front bumper. It's quite a deep scratch well into the plastic.
Its a no fault claim as I found the guy who's car is was and exchanged details.
I am dropping it off at the body shop my insurance had told me to in the next few days. The front bumper is covered in stone chips (Impreza) and I'm unsure how they can repair the damage and scratch whilst the rest of the bumper is covered in road rash.
Anyone know what they are likely to do? Just do their best to fix the 4" area effected or are they likely to want to do the rest?
Thanks in advanced.

They will paint the whole bumper but they probably won't correct any other stone chips prior to painting over them, or at least thats been my experience. Which Impreza do you have?saaby93 said:
Why on earth is this going through insurance?
How much will it cost in ongoing no-claims loss for the next few years?
Some old fart drove into the side of my Astravan a few months ago because he wasn't watching what he was doing. How much will it cost in ongoing no-claims loss for the next few years?
He was driving a 2 year old Seat and the side of his front bumper scuffed the paint around one of my rear wheelarches. He begrudgingly gave me his details and I said I would call him.
My mate owns a bodyshop and he said could fix it no problem for about £100, so I called the other driver and offered the guy the option to avoid any insurance issues and just give me the £100 and I would get it sorted.
He went ballistic on the phone and started ranting about how he would never give me a penny in cash and would rather let his insurance settle it. I pointed out to him that he would probably lose his no claims bonus and have to pay the money anyway as his excess would be more than the damage.
He said he didn't care and wanted it all to go through 'official' insurance procedures.
Exact same thing happened to a mate when a woman reversed into him at a car park barrier, he offered her the chance to pay around £250 and he would get the damage sorted, but she demanded it go through insurance.
Some people are just weird like that.

They don't have to pay excess unless they're claiming for their vehicle as well.He was driving a 2 year old Seat and the side of his front bumper scuffed the paint around one of my rear wheelarches. He begrudgingly gave me his details and I said I would call him.

Not necessarily
A smart repair might do just the affected piece, but a body shop might find it easier just to clean off the whole bumper, mask to the panel joins and paint the whole thing in one go.
'have you made a claim in the last few years'
Exactly,I got t-boned at a junction and the woman accepted fault no loss in NCB, no excess paid etx but my premiums are now 50-100 quid more than without the accident declared. If that is the same until it "drops off" in 3 years I'm nearly £300 worse off.
