Hello, Whilst under replacing the steering fluid I was looking at the oil pump area with the intention of replacing the pressure relief spring, but I can see two hex heads which could be the spring cap. So which one is it? There is one pointing more toward the drivers wheel and the other more towards the crank shaft.

Also the small (6) bolts holding the base plate on appear to have spline heads which look very delicate and a st to get off (access). Any comments here?

Regards Andy.

Pressure relieve valve is pointing more towards the crank and the housing sticks out a bit.

Never undid the bolts holding the pump, but seems that a normal box spanner can be used.

Use a good quality ring spanner - 5/16" AF IIRC.

Thanks for the info & diagram. All now crystal! Just need to source a standard spring now. Like hens teeth.

I seem to recall that the original bolts on my pump were a bit 'special', had security heads or some such... but it is 10 years since I last took it off.

OK, so this makes more sense. Sounds like I have the original"security" bolts in place where others must have had them replaced in the past with normal hex bolts. I was a bit confused about the box spanner remark as mine definitely appeared to be of the splined variety but slightly tapered inwards towards the top of the bolt head.

Mine has spline headed bolts, but I've used a (12 point I think) Facom ring spanner to remove these at least twice without problems.

Thanks carob, this was about the only one I could find but object to paying that price for something that should only be a few green backs. Might have to stump up at the end of the day. frown

Think you can find a full oil pump revision set for a bit more than that amount (gears, gasket and the ebay stuff) http://www.johncraddockltd.co.uk/store/results.php...
