HI, I bought this from the classifieds a few weeks ago and had my first proper look at it today. It seems very well made (and good condition) and I wondered if it was the Leven Hood cover or not?

If it is a Leven one, I think that the flap at the back goes under the boot lid but the one at the front seem more of a "tuck-under" than shut under the bonnet. Is that correct?

It does indeed look like a Leven cover. Both flaps will 'lock' in place when the boot and bonnet are latched down. Good kit but dont pull too hard on the mirror straps wink

Thanks everyone but from memory there is a latch near the middle on the bonnet. Will have a look tommorow to see what goes where.

The front flap will fit just to the side of the bonnet latch.

Have a look at this thread it has a few pics of mine in place:

Yes it's definately a Leven cover but I don't think the intention is to trap the front flaps under the bonnet just to tuck them under the wipers. If you trap the flaps under bonnet and the boot and close them both you'll then struggle to open the car door to get in to open either the bonnet or bootlid. I know it's possible but it makes things difficult..... confused

It works fine if you trap the flaps under the bonnet and boot, there is enough material to allow you to open the door and for entry to the car. I have mine on the car all the time at night and have no problem with accesss

I bought one new and the instructions definately said to tuck the flaps under the boot and bonnett. The bonnett flap is offset to miss the bonnett catch IIRC.

I didn't buy mine new so never had the instructions.

My car lived outside for 18 or so months before I got a garage and I tried clamping the front under the bonnet of the Griffith and as I said I had a real struggle to open the car the first time I tried it so I thought I was wrong. That said it's a lot quicker just to pop the wiper blades over the flap as the front is held down by the wing mirror straps and as an added bonus the wipers don't stick to the screen when it's a hard frost.

Regardless of the correct way of fitting them they're an excellent cover and loads of non TVR people have asked me where to get one when they saw me using it on Julie's Copen during the very cold weather before Christmas.

I never have problems. The idea is that the hood is locked under the boot and the bonnet to stop people nicking it smile

I just trap mine in the boot, fasten it round the wing mirrors and pop the wipers over it, much quicker, especially if you use the car everyday as I do/did when I used the cover regulariliy.

Dont use it now, but did when my p&j didnt have a house. I didn't bother with the front flap either, didn't cause a problem. However, over time I did notice small scratches on the paintwork where ever the cover touched the car, presumably caused by the wind. Need to make sure the car is kept clean without any small dust/grit on the paintwork, or that scratching will get worse.

That said, really good cover. Kept the carpets from getting soaked (lots of leaks in my old Chim) and helped to prevent some fading of the carpets, although they really needed replacing when I sold it.

Thanks for all the comments. Fitted it today and didnt need to lift the bonnet, it was tucked under near the wipers. I will see how easy it is to get off in the morning.

A well made accessory.
