E46 330i won't sell!!!!
Discussion
Ive got a 330 m sport with only 65k on it and in good condition with 12 months MOT and 5 months tax. Its been on ebay twice and is listed in the classifieds on here but i've had no interest at all! Does nobody like these motors anymore???????? I dont think the £5500 pricetag is too bad either????
I like them!
Have a look at this thread.. http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0... wants big engined petrols for trade-in.
May explain some reason behind the lack of interest.

Joe, at a guess, Alcantara is less attractive than leather.
Photos don't really show/say a lot about the car - less definitely isn't more.
Your text is not broken up to make salient points - it's all very run-on, so hard to read.
You've also assumed anyone looking is totally au fait with what the 330i Sport spec is, and what factory/dealer options/retrofits have been installed.
No image or mention of wheels condition, same for the steering wheel (known to peel), and the same for paintwork or the rusting that the arches are known for.
Bottom line, like many adverts (even for E60s/E38s), you've not shown much thought in what you've written - bit of DFR (do 'fine' rightly) which with the car being fairly run-of-the-mill, doesn't give lookers any impetus to enquire further.
Mileage is a bone of contention on BMs, as the display can be reprogrammed - so as much as a picture showing the mileage claimed, servicing or a free key-reader printout from a franchised dealer will prove the mileage is genuine.
Spend 15-20 minutes writing up the car, being honest about any minus points too, and check prices against AT/Gumtree/whatcar/Vauxhall value my car, then you may just get some more enquiries.
Bear in mind it being Silver may count against it for some buyers - but it does hide dirt more than a black/dark blue will.

I'm trying to sell my E36 M3 at the moment.
No interest apart from a few "I'll come and look at it" no shows and one person who insisted on agreeing the price before he'd seen the car, and then didn't contact me again(?).
Advert is a full write up, detailed and as honest as the day is long.
People don't want big engined cars.
At this rate I'll end up giving it away to WBAC for peanuts!
Lets drop the price a (large) lump and see what happens

Apologies, didn't realise no ad rule. (it was advertised on here but no takers so haven't renewed it)

ive having trouble selling my 330ci aswell, all i get is insulting email offers for it!.... i mean if you wanna knock me at least have the decentcy to view it first! its so gutting that just a year ago i paid 8500 for mine now ive got it advertised for 6k , and still not a single viewing
Join the club! I paid 10k for mine 12 months ago and got it up for 8. It is immaculate with the harmon kardon audio too, but apparently the mileage is high at 60K!!! I mean, high!!
Anyway if I don't get a good price for it, I'll just keep it, it's too good a car to give away! but I could do with something more economical as I am doing about 20k a year now!!!

Yea been thinking about that. I need to dop some sums, but I get paid out at 26p mile at the mo off my company. If I do LPG it's about 16p I think. Ill check coz it's all just changed again last week.Had a few cars on gas in the past. Generally good, but not without problems thats all!
Have you guys looked at the prices of E90's recently?
Mate just bought a 66k mile 330i M-Sport manual with nav and professional hi-fi and bluetooth, full leather, xenons and on an 06 plate for £10800.
Black paint and black leather too so no funny colour scheme.
So if you can buy that how much would you want to pay for an E46 that is not only an older model but much older too?
Plus you have things like this out there.....
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2908474.htm
Now as nice as the E46 is still, I would guess most people would rather have an E90?

How far have these dropped!Exactly, I was looking at 330ci E46's two years ago and there was loads at £6-7k then, and loads at £9k too which was well over priced, but 2 years on you have to expect them to fall even further as the E90 is nearly about to be replaced, the E90 is now over 6 years old, so you have cars out there that were bought 3 years ago for 55% less then new and now those owners are selling them on again for another 50% less, so they are cheap.
I would say with E90's at £7000 for a 330i then you need to be looking at around £3500-6500 for an E46 depending on shape, trim and spec.
I bought my E320cdi estate last spring just after the new one had been released and I knew I would get hit fairly hard on depreciation as the it is the wrong time to buy, and I have.
Buying an old model after the new one is out is always going to hurt, and you have to be realistic about what it is worth if you want to move it on.

Haven't seen the advert but if it has got Alcantara as someone above said that'll be a big reason.....mate of mine bought an E46 330i Sport with Alcantara quite a few years ago from a main dealer thought he'd got a great deal until he got a company car and had to sell it three months later. IIRC correctly he lost £7k on it in three months (he paid £22k) which even allowing for dealer margins is a shocker......main dealers wouldn't touch it with a barge bole because everyone wants leather in a 330i. Now yours is obviously not a £20k car but 99% of people will want the leather.

I had a 330i on lpg without any problems apart form the frequent fill ups because I only fitted a 45l tank (25mpg on petrol and 21mpg on lpg). It cost 2100 back in 2005 and was prins system. Go to someone who has done a few 3.0l BMW's so that you know they have experience with you type of engine is my advice.By the way - what is the annual tax on the e46 300i these days?
I think I paid around 200 in 2005. In Greece where I am now it is around a 1k!!

Well, it looks like I'll be keeping mine at this rate and these prices! OK mine's a Ci not a saloon and looks the biz, still the same underneath I guess!
Probably keep another year or 2 and still get 3-4 grand for it then perhaps, probably the lower end I have to admit!

It's put me off trying to sell my main car at the moment.
It's sad when big, quality cars are worth less than the bottom of the range (size wise) cheapo diesels.
I suspect my next car will be new, bought on PCP or something similar to avoid all this hassle.
As someone who is likely to sell his 330i Sport in the next 12 months or so, this is disappointing news
I just hope the big engined cars that i'm looking at replacing it with are dropping at a greater rate!
It's such a shame that a car as good as the 330i becomes difficult to sell at £5k
I absolutely love mine and there is nothing - nothing - that i would rather have for £5k. Hell, there is nothing i would rather have for £10k than my 330i!
