Colchester Round Table are organising Colchester Carnival this year in Castle Park, Colchester and have just been given permission to hold a car show in the park during the day. (10am - 4.30pm)
We'd like to go one better than a car show and have a Supercar show attended by your good selves!
If you have a car of interest - we want it there! Simples.
Entry for cars is - FREE
Entry for the public is - FREE
In addition to the car show there will be the Essex Police Helicopter (depending on operational requirements), Traffic units, The Interceptors driving simulator, live music, loads of trade stands, a proper bar and the usual food outlets.

We are expecting crowds of 20,000 as this is the first time the carnival is being held in this format and heralds a return to the "good old days"!

For application forms, please contact me asap as we will probably have to limit the cars to about 100

For general information about the carnival have a look at the website www.colchestercarnival.com

There may also be an opportunity to take part in the parade itself or some sort of pre Carnival run through the town - details for this are being finalised.

If you need any more info - call me 07968 424976
Thanks folks
John.

Fellow pistonheaders, I just wanted to echo John's comments that we really would appreciate your support on this one.

Basically Colchester's Carnival has had a bit of a chequered past and was basically dead. However, there was still interest in having something in the town (we've 180,000 residents in Colchester alone) so Colchester Round Table (of which John and I are members) stepped forward and said we can do it, how hard can it be.

Well, the answer is actually quite hard.

Anyway, as the Carnival is being run this year by Colchester Round Table which is a registered charity it seems that all that bad feeling has gone and the support has been great - this could be the biggest show in the town this year - www.colchestercarnival.com.

The problem we have is that the funfair booked to display in our park has cancelled and we have less than a month to replace this with something interesting - hence our plan for a Supercar show.

Can I therefore repeat John's request and say that if you own something interesting, you live within reasonable driving distance of Colchester and are free on 16th July, we would make you and your car very welcome. It's free too!

Many thanks
Jamie

OK, due to difficulties in securing 100 Supercars at such short notice we are opening up this to all petrolheads with something interesting to show off, be it Ferrari F40 or Focus RS.

If we could ask interested owners to email their details together with a daytime phone number to chair@colchestercarnival.com we'll add you to the guest list!
