My Eunos restoration
Discussion
Hi, I'm just about to underseal my Eunos but I'm not sure where to locate the axle stands front and back. There's a pic on the "rust proof your roadster" thread showing the rear and they look quite close together. I was going to put them on the rear wishbone but not sure whether I should now?
I always use the double skinned sections at the end of each chassis rail (don't put them anywhere else on the rail or it'll buckle!), I've had my car sitting up safely like this for weeks at a time.
You'll obviously need to do the bits that the axle stands are covering by hand after you lower the car down, but that should be easy enough.

Best thing is to get a pair of ramps from halfords - it's much easier to drive onto those than mess around with jacks and axle stands, you'll feel a lot safer underneath, and you'll have more space to move around as they're at the edges of the car and not towards the middle.
Problem is you can't take the wheels off, and I want to do inside the arches.Ok, well on the front I have put them here, it's where the wishbone joins and looks pretty sturdy. I think I'm going to do the front like this first then put the front on ramps to do the back.....

While I've got the front off the ground I changed the brake pads that I've had a while, looks like I was just in time!

I used to have ramps but I sold them as I couldn't drive a car onto them on our driveway. If I tried they would just move. Probably ok on a tarmac drive but not on brick-weave.
I use axle stands on the wishbone mounts myself.
Well the trick is to get a pair of cheapo rear-footwell rubber mats, the ones that are about 10 inches square, then put them under the front contact-point where the wheels first drive onto the ramps. I use the rear mats from my Toyota, and the ramps stay put.I use axle stands on the wishbone mounts myself.
Right I've had the title of this thread changed and I'm just going to update it when I do some work to my Eunos.
At the mo im undersealing and rustproofing it.
Front arches first, I've steam cleaned underneath and it's not too bad, I've rubbed down any surface rust that's just starting to appear.

After steaming the inside of the arches are in very good condition

Been doing a bit of shopping today, first off thanks to PHer Matlee who I bought a bonnet, bootlid, steering wheel and gear lever from.
Here's the interior bits and bobs...

Hopefully I'll have the bonnet and boot fitted tomorrow and I'll get some pics of them fitted.
And thanks to PHer TVR MAN who gave me a link to this K+N typhoon for sale. It's for a MK2 but I'm hoping with a bit of modding I can get it to fit mine. It looks like I will need a square to round adaptor which I've found on fleabay and I might need to make a bracket to support the air flow meter which looks a lot bigger than the MK2's.

You have a 1.8 with a round MAF though whereas Attym3 has a 1.6 with a square AFM. A round to square adapter will be needed.http://www.mx5oc.co.uk/forum/forums/t/13604.aspx

You'll also need to drill and tap it to provide a feed for the IAC valve.
I also think you might struggle to get it to pass over the 1.6 thermostat & upper rad hose combo, but you might get away with it.

It already has two holes/inlets on the side, do you think I will need another?I also think you might struggle to get it to pass over the 1.6 thermostat & upper rad hose combo, but you might get away with it.
I had a quick look earlier and I see what your saying about the hose, but looking on the links that have been put on here it looks like it will just go. The one guy was talking about hammering the bracing on the underside of the bonnet though, don't fancy that.

I've found nice aluminium ones on eBay

A little more done, I have fitted the new bonnet and boot and it looks 100% better, the bonnet is now the right colour and I've got rid of the spoiler on the back...

All the wheel arches have been rust treated and coated with Dynatrol underseal. Just got to put the cavity wax into the sills and that's the underneath done.
One of the rear arches...

Just a case of putting it all back together and have look at fitting the new air filter.
More to come

A bit of modding is needed to fit the air filter but I think it will just go.
I shortened the metal breather pipe that comes from the rocker cover and will use the original bit of flexi which fits nicely onto the pipe...

The other breather pipe that comes from the inlet manifold I've extended to the bigger hole on the pipe, I have sealed it in but I believe it's not under that much pressure?

This is the square to round adaptor...

Can anyone tell me if the air flow meter has to be flat(as it is in the pic)when fitted or can it be twisted around?
