Morning, folks...

So - having burnt myself out (literally - pesky German big cats!) on World of Tanks, I went to see 'Fury' last week, and now I've got the WWII bug again...

So... has anyone tried any WWII tabletop games or wargames with any degree of success...

I've hunted around and found Bolt Action by Warlord Games - anyone tried this system?

They have a contest/mini-game at the moment with loads of tanks and boxed games to win... might be worth a minute of your time, if you're into modelling or curious...

Bolt Action is supposed to be pretty good with a tank supplement either just about to or is out now.

Also look at flames of war, smaller scale but also very good by all accounts.

You mention World of Tanks, have you tried War Thunder? I find the tank warfare on there much more realistic than WoT, even if it is early days in that section of the game. (US tanks are en-route though rather than just the German and Russian offerings)

Can't help on the board game side of things though.

You could try the battlegroup game, it's written by the same chap who did the warhammer historical games and is based on warhammer to a degree.

The books are really detailed, the publisher website is http://ironfistpublishing.com/?page_id=20

One place to get them and differing scales of models is http://www.theplasticsoldiercompany.co.uk

Been thinking of using this modular wargame table system http://www.kallistra.co.uk

I have got shed loads of airfix, esci and italerai 1/72 scale so was reluctant to go to the bolt action 28mm scale.

Flames of War is very good, its 15mm (1:100 scale) so you get loads of chaps and tanks on the table. The books are nice chunky hard backs with lots of historic info and different companies plus due to a lot of companies doing 1:100

The starter set comes with US paras and British Shermans. Plus a German Grenadier company with Pak40s and 3 StuG IIIs

Here is some of my stuff painted up (link to the full album below

PM me and I can get one of my guys to help you out.

Shame I didn't see this thread before as we had a Bolt Action/Armoured Fury day last weekend, with a Tank workshop and a game with the writer of the game.
