im jus coming up to the end of my first year driving in a 52 1.0 Vauxhall corsa flashy I know, which im paying 3000 on insurance on!! an im 22. I really cant decide what car to get next i've narrowed it down to a few which are a3 1.4tfsi 1.6 55 plate onwards, golf 1.4 or 1.6 55 plate onwards, Volvo c30 1.6, Vauxhall gtc 1.4 turbo or new megane which I think is a 1.5. also i know someone who works in mini aswell so could sort me out with a mini cooper sport any advice on them?? I cant really go with any bigger sized engines as insurance is worse. also don't know weather it would be worth while getting a brand new one due to free insurance warranty etc if anybody could shed any light on the subject would be more than grateful an im welcome to other suggestions.

basically im after something that's pretty quick got mod cons an not to thirsty but saying that anything will be thirsty compared to mine an will not get completely smoked by my mates Ibiza 1.8 fr haha

cheers

If you are paying £3000 insurance for that then you must be a complete idiot. A quick look on confused.com will show that for that car, even a 17 year old that has just passed his test is only gonna have to pay about £1000.

Search for manchester and I think you'll find I'd be paying at least 4 times that frown

I apologize for my rash statement, You guys are completely right, I guess I am very lucky due to where I live and honestly I just never considered the prices for other areas.

And upon looking up prices for other areas I am amazed how much the location can effect price.

Indeed, try BB1. My step-son is 21 & has a Corsa. £2500 this year.

That's insane! I'm 21 and fully comp insurance on my Civic is £380. The quote I got for an E46 M3 was only £1,100...

Out of the cars you mentioned I would choose the Astra gtc, it looks better than the others, the Audi and mini are girls cars.
Plus Vauxhall are doing 0% finance right now and I am pretty sure it will be the cheapest to maintain.

You are considering buying a brand new car to save on a years insurance silly

Why not stick with the corsa for another year and get another years NCB. Whilst waiting have a think about what you really want for your next car.

Keep the car you have for a couple more years and learn to drive it properly. By then your insurance will come down a lot, you'll have more money and a better choice of cars. Cars are good fun, but don't spend all of your disposable on them.
