Hit and run advice sought

Hi Chap's,
I have tried to search this topic, but I have been unable to find any result's so sorry if this topic has been covered before.
I've just been shopping, and left my scooter in the Waitrose carpark. I came back to find it on the floor, and the car park attendant next to it, whom advised me he saw a silver car hitting it, but by the time he walked over to it, it had gone. He is checking the cctv, and if the license plate is availiable, what can I do? Now if they had left a note with a contact number etc I would'nt be bothered, as it's just a £1k snotter, but just the flagrant disrespect with people around, and just driving off makes me want to see what can be done.
All your expert replies greatfully recieved.
Regards
Mr Fox.

Call the police.
I have heard somewhere that if there is no person's in, or on a vehicle they don't see this as a serious matter, but more damage to be persued through a civil court.I could be wrong, and don't mind being put straight on this matter.

But a short phonecall to the non-serious police number may lead to a cop visiting the car driver and asking them about the situation.
Perhaps they would even ask the car driver if they would be happy for their contact details to be given to the OP for any insurance or compensation discussion.
(I’m not sure how that works)
I guess it would depend on how busy the BIB are at the time.
I would get the attendant to confirm if he can get the reg number first.
1. No reg number found, police have nothing to go on an will do nothing.
2. If reg number is found, go into the cop shop with reg number, CCTV or details of where they can get it and mostly the details of your witness.

P.s. and what course of action would the police take then, if any.

I was a witness to your situation 2 years a go. There was no CCTV the driver got done for not reporting the accident within 24hrs and also had no insurance/MOT. She got about a £150 fine (rubbish I know) I think the driver had to claim off his own insurance.P.s. and what course of action would the police take then, if any.

In your case the police should be able to find the driver and with the evidence make them responsible through insurance/cash. Maybe they did not notice they hit your bike so the 24hrs does not apply, Your witness may be able to confirm this. Get a quote for the damage they may just pay it in cash.

A pick up hit my parked car sliding around the housing estate in the snow….
The witness came forward the day after with the registration number to and off to the cop shop I did go…
The police will fill in at least 7 forms, which will take at least 90 minutes of your time, and make you feel like you are the criminal here.
Take all your documentation relating to the car, insurance, V5, MOT, and anything else you can think of. Also proof of who you are, driving licence, passport, utility bill, take the lot!
They will try and put you off the scent of taking this any further as they don’t want the hassle. I had the use of my ex special branch brother in law helping here….
Once you have your registration number, then it’s a matter of contacting the insurance company, and seeing if they can help chasing it for you.
For me, the witness was a 14 year old boy, who lived just down the road. The Muppet driving the pickup found out who the young lad was (how did he do that?) and decided to pay him a visit and tell him he was a discreditable witness. BAD plan. PC Plod was called and The Muppet found himself in court on much more serious charges.
So it all got sorted out luckily, as far I was concerned, rather well.
