My First Motoring Love - Fiat Seicento Abarth

Thought it was about time to introduce my first car to the people of Pistonheads.
Bought on Wednesday 25th April, my Fiat Seicento Abarth was transported home on the back of a trailer from a place far far away and arrived home in the cold, dark hours of night. Having not passed my test quite yet, this was the only option seeing that my Dad, the only person who could have driven it home for me, was ridiculously busy. The journey home was a long one, with me sitting in the passenger seat of the lorry worried silly that a strong gust of wind may send my car tumbling off into the distance. The weather was horrendous! Not to worry though, the little Fiat arrived home safe and sound, albeit a bit wet, and was tucked away on the drive to rest.
The following morning, I went off to work feeling sad to leave my car behind. Knowing that it was in need of a good clean and polish, I spent most of the day looking forward to the next spell of sunshine.
Fast forward to Saturday and after seven hours of work, the car went from looking like this:
To looking like this:
What a difference a day makes
Plans for the car? Well, I'm not looking to modify it in any way other than a set of clear indicator lenses. It does need a couple of scratches seen to though and is missing two Abarth center caps on the right - side alloys, so this'll be done in due course.
All in all, I couldn't be happier with my first car. I've had a brief go in it and it seems to be fantastic fun. Surprisingly quick for a 1.1 too
All thats left to do now is pass my test

I have also thought about getting a Seicento Sporting as a first a first car as I am 17 too, but I would be worried about crashing it and having limited protection. So you are braver than me.
If you want to drive it before passing your test then use a website called 'Insurance Marmalade' (I know it is a stupid name) as they will insure me for £88.00 p/m and up to Group 32.
When I get a car I will use them and drive to and from work while gaining experience.

It was from the TV show 'The Inbetweeners!' where they had a yellow Cinquecento with an odd red door. It isn't my kind of show and I think it would look weird on a Seicento Sporting.

These are great little cars. I had 5 Cinquecento Sportings, ending up a 97 Abarth before I emigrated.
make sure you check the rear wheel arches in the boot, as rust can show its head there, and head gaskets at approx 55k
Other than that I never had problems with any of mine. Theyre a awesome car to learn to spanner on, as a lot of stuff from bigger cars fits just fine! (My Abarth had the 1242cc Punto engine put in it as the only difference is 1cm or so in height, and 5 extra BHP
)
Look after it and it will look after you! And they arnt too bad when crashed, I managed to roll my first one, and it was remarkable how well it put up with it.
