All you girls with so called "cold air intakes" Id like to see your actual temps.

Ok so the pic is a bit blury but you get the picture. Intake temp 7*C, outside temp 5*C.
So only 2 degrees above ambient!
Considering the stock one is more like 10* over Id like to see what some of the other "Cold Air" intakes are like.

When stationary its not so good, but after a minute on the move it drops down to just over ambient.

Plus my intake sensor is within 6 inches of the throttle body and not a couple of feet like the stock setup.

Given the mass of air is proportional to the temperature of the air, its free horsepower. Halve the temperature, double the mass of air..
Though thats when using *K. Every degree reduction in intake temp is more free horsepower.

dont have an exact figure as i dont have any gauge's.

in traffic my typhoons crap, massive heatsoak, as its and exposed filter, but once on the move, ive quickly popped my bonnet and felt the intake manifold and its freezing. thats with a throttle body bypass aswell

Yeah Russo. Temp above ambient would be interesting to know on the various intakes around the place.
Maybe someone with a stock intake can post up their results?

Almost as clear as mine smile

Where is your intake sensor mate, just before the throttle!? If so then that is very good.

will get on it tomorrow cheif. Be interesting to see your IT once the AT is in the +20s as at the current temps I doubt the advantage is quite as real as in summer. Will look and post

based on a short three runs last night AAT was reading 14 average from IAT was +12c but in fairness the runs were only an hour after returning home from work so the engine bay was hot and the logging was over a lot of stop go town traffic. When on the open roads it would drop down quick to within 10c but only fair to do the full log this morning to SRR
