Clock which (visually) shows if it's day or night?

Has anyone seen a clock which clearly / visually shows if it's day or night?

My old fella is in hospital and he's pretty out of it and it's often unclear to him what time it is or, indeed, if it's day or night..

Obvious answer might seem to be a clear digital with 24 hour clock. I don't reckon he'd be able to grasp that though. I think that if he woke and saw 03:00 for instance, he'd wonder if it was three in the afternoon.

There was an analogue one in his previous room like this ...



I tried to explain it to him but he just couldn't grasp it.

I should say that the weather in Aberdeen at this time of year means that it sometimes never gets properly light. I don't think we'd be having this problem if it was June.

Our kids have gro clock, not sure it's appropriate but it should work?

You can make those day clocks with a digital photo frame, just find one that has the right timer for the slides.

I think a sun dial would be the easiest way to do it.

Glad to be of some help. Basic way is to just make 12 images saying day and night and put them on an hourly interval, if you can find one that already displays a clock and has a decent programmable timer then you can photoshop up pretty photos with text across them to use

That's so simple yet complete genius!

Would also be useful for small kids, to discourage them from getting up too early, wish they'd been available when ours were always up at 5am!

This is what I'd like to give you ...

Got the photo frame the chap recommends for £25 delivered (ebay) and copied the 168 images.

When I get it up and running, I'll post a pic.
