Few days in Edinburgh. Pointers please....

OH and I are visiting Edinburgh in August. Both been before and enjoyed what we saw at the time,looking for something different and interesting for this visit.

Festival is on when we go, so will be taking in a bit of that whilst we are there, but best tips are from personal experience, so learned chasps and chaspesses of PH, give us some pointers please!

I'll state the obvious first. How long are you coming for? I take it you have a hotel sorted, apparently the population doubles in August. Will you have a car? If you're just up for a few days I'd just do the festival or come in a different month! Get hold of the Fringe program and book some stuff.
Happy to recommend pubs, restaurants, day trips etc.

I'd rather not, you may not be my type......

However, as for the second part, not everyone surfs all of the forums, this site is pretty big and people seem to pick and choose which bits they look at.

We are there Thursday to Saturday, hotel and travel sorted. Just looking for any personal recommendations as a change to the usual brochure stuff.
