I’ve just completed a ‘long intended’ interior and exterior lighting up-grade.

I’ve changed all the interior bulbs, including the door lamps and rear cabin lights (the rear cabin lights required the removal of the rear seat backs,) for LEDs

The interior lighting is dramatically improved and now has a cohesive factory look about it.

Also changed the rear number plate lights and the front side lights, the latter requiring bulb warning system compliant LEDs.

The front side lights are now white, looking much more in keeping… definitely a result!

All easy to do, (except the front side lights) and worth the effort if you have the old dim wedge bulbs.

Very pleased, recommend doing this.

Really like those interior LED's ... what is the spec / where did you get them from?

After reading the many threads here and on AMOC, I decided because my interior is black, I'd fit the
WLED-x6 LED bulb - Cool White (spot light bulb)

There’s also a slightly less bright WLED- WHP Pure/White High Power (diffuse/flood bulb 5 leds rather than 6)

All the interior LEDs came from here: http://www.superbrightleds.com/

Any chance of a "before"?

They look really good.

And the exterior LEDs, where and what are they?

The weeedy yellow candles look very dated and low-rent...

Would like details of exterior bulbs and a proper description and pics of how to replace them myself if anyone has one.
Thanks

It seems a few people are doing this now...

I bet if all those looking into it got together you could organise a decent discount on a "package" of bulbs...

I'd offer but I did mine ages ago.

Yep… that’s what I needed… but no replies here! I was determined to do it myself; totally ridiculous to pay to have a bulb fitted (So I thought.)

It’s difficult but not impossible; front wheels off, undo the front half of the liner (M6 Torx), pull back the liner (but this is where it gets tricky)

You can just reach through and touch the half twist bulb socket ( it’s at that point I stopped and got it done, while it was being serviced the following week!)

It is easier when the car is on the ramp, but I've been told if you drop the air-boxes, you then have access to the bulb socket.

Much harder to do at ground level than on a ramp. Also difficult if you have normal sized arms hehe

Here are the weird looking exterior bulbs and the link http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/501-Can-bus-Super...

Bear in mind, these aren’t as bright as DRLs. If they were, they’d impede the indicator bulbs.

They’re just the LED equivalent of the 5w wedge bulb; but quite a bit brighter and white.

But crucially, they work with cars with bulb warning systems on sidelights and also those cars with Can-bus systems like BMW, Mercedes.

This eliminates the requirement for resistors (so the bumph says) Anyhow they work. biggrin

Thank you for this. Sorry if I'm being a bit dim (no pun intended) but are these the ones you mean for the upper interior & footwells?

From the owner's manual here's the lights you need:

Footwell lamps 5W W5W
Door lamps (Festoon) 5W C5W
Side Repeater 5W WY5W
Reading lamps 3W W3W
Boot lamps 10W C10W
Number plate lamps 5W W5W

They've used the EU naming for lights so you might see the W5Ws being called 501, the C5W as 239, and the C10W as 264

Yep, if you fit them all round, be prepared to feel like you’ve just regained your sight after 20 years.

For anyone wanting to do this the bulbs types seem to have changed over the models years (wedge or festoon)

I know it sounds obvious, but get a definitive bulb list form >your< car’s manual and compile your requirements from that.

You can do these without removing the seat backs. Takes a bit of fiddling with some sort of plastic levering tool to find and depress the retaining clips, but no harder than removing the seat backs smile

Hi all
I did this LED conversion on the interior of my Vantage a couple of weeks ago, the result was wonderful! Here is the link to fit them....very simple to do smile

My previous post below

My apologies for the lack of photos, thought i had downloaded them via photo bucket? I will try again tonight.
The part no and type for the bulbs are 501 (194-168) W5W sidelamp bulb. 6 LED xenon white. I bought them off eBay and the seller was Argos city ltd, The cost for 4 bulbs delivered was £5.60....The best value for money mod you can do to an Aston Martin!

Chris fitting is a 10 minute job, to replace the floor bulbs feel under the dash and on the top of the bulb holder you will feel a turret, turn this anti clockwise and remove. You now have access to the capless 501 bulb, pull the bulb and pop the new one in, if it does not light, reverse the bulb around.
Refit the turret and job done.
The map reading bulbs are just as easy, There is a plastic bezel around each lamp, gently prise the bezel off, i would use something flat and plastic like a spatula or plastic knife....be very careful here to not to leave in marks in the headlining, take your time and they just pop off. Once off grip the 501 capless bulb gently with long nose pliers and pull out. Pop your new LED bulb in. Now remove the black microphone grill in the middle of the two lamps, it just flicks out. You can now get a finger behind the lamp unit to hold it in place whilst pushing the cover back on, otherwise the whole unit moves when pushing the cover on. The bezel/cover only goes on in a couple of ways due to cut outs so dont force it.

Now pour that glass of wine and wait for darkness, they look great!

Have a great weekend
Cheers
Ian.

Nice one. One thing about LED bulbs is that they don't dim out but I guess that's a small trade off for the brightness.
