Squeaky rear window
Discussion
The rear screen is squeaking and driving me mad. I have the velcro along the top edge and have put silicon spray round the screen edge but still it squeaks. I had a look at mytuscan.co.uk and they suggest "Anti-squeak tape on the inside lip of the boot lid near the rear screen catches".
What is anti squeak tape!
Demon tweaks have all sorts of tape but nothing that specifies anti squeak. I know it's April the 1st but am I missing something?

Anti squeak tape is listed as leading edge tape
Most of the 'squeaking' problem is from the contact point between the screen and the boot lid and adding the tape here can help.Although the best fix I have found is to replace the screen clips with the metal ones form CT and the stop this contact with the boot lid as the clips do not bend like the plastic ones.

Tried velcro on top of screen inside and out which worked ok, but for some reason it kept popping roof open on one side so I took the velcro of and replaced it with black electrical tape, Happy days it works a treat, left a strip of velcro across bottom where the boot seal meets the screen

Leading edge tape is absolutley fantastic.I bought some and have stuck it around the screen. You can't see it, it's very flexible so easy to fit and has 100% solved the problem. Highly recomended.
Do you need the 4", 100mm width or will a 2", 50mm width do the job?http://merlinmotorsport.co.uk/product_info.php?pro...

Where abouts do you stick this tape? Any pictures?
Thanks
Stick it to the outside edge of the screen on the top edge. This picture shows the position, but in this case velcro was used:-Thanks

Later cars come with anti-squeak tape already fitted to the top edge screen and some dealers also fitted a strip of velcro to the bottom of the screen to prevent it rubbing on the boot lid, although if you fit the metal screen clips this should not be necessary.

Unless im wrong...i was thinking velcro went round where it fits between targa bar and bootlid, and leading edge tape round inside of screen to match the rubber seal?
No not on the seal side on the outside edge to prevent rubing on the fiberglass.da_murphster said:
I have a problem with th erubber seal sticking to the window - to the extend where when I remove the screen the seal has stuck to it and pulled away from the car.
Will this tape help? Should I be 'greasing' up the edge of the screen or something?
I use a small ammount of silicon spray on all the seals including the rear window one, keeps them looking like new and prevents the problem you describe from happening. Will this tape help? Should I be 'greasing' up the edge of the screen or something?
