Been looking in too this sort of thing so the load is off the wheels for TVR's.

Don't think a 2 poster will leave me much room so this is ideal if it is any good.

thoughts and idea's welcome please.

The first looks a little unstable and unsure if you could even lift a Tiv on the second, i think it looks better and i would be more happy under that one.

Cheers Scotty

Indeed the 2nd looks more sturdy, and assuming it's got those little blocks that you can use to pinpoint where to lift I think it'd work. Usual caveat about outrigger quality applies.
A PHeader I know with a Chimaera and a Ferrari has just got a lift, can ask him what type if you like?

Hi

I have a similar ramp as the first one!

Main problem with that is the middle of the car is unobtainable, so if you want to do a gearbox, clutch and even an exhaust you have problems.

It's great if you want to do all four wheels at one time or working on the front or rear of the car!

Hi Mark Please that would be great i want to do my home work before i hand over my hard earned.

Hi Andy

Not to fussed about gear box and so on as i can get on a 4 poster if i really need to just for as you say nice to get the wheels off the ground and clean up inside the wheel arches and just to service the car really. Also good for laying it up over winter with the weight of the wheels.

Do you feel safe working under yours and does it feel stable is my big concern.

Cheers Scott

These are good, would be my choice.

My local garage uses a couple of these to supplement their 4 posters.
They even use one outside the workshop when busy as they are a doddle to move around on a flat surface.

Where was this one advertised?

Scotty, here's a cut and paste of the mail the chap sent me.

Email said:
Mark - here you go: http://www.strongmantools.co.uk/

Mine is similar to http://jalbum.net/en/browse/user/album/1037595/

I have been v pleased with it. A few points:
1) Needs a motor rated circuit breaker. I ended up putting additional power supply in to the garage to provide this as existing circuits were close to capacity anyway.
Cost me about £500... so if working to a budget needs to be taken into account.
2) Ground clearance beneath the car needs to be thought about.... most of mine are ok but TVR is (as you are only too aware) rather low and has the chassis attachment bolts sticking out the bottom as well. I had to sort out a couple of wooden ramps to give the car a gradual approach to the lift platform to stop it grounding as I drove on.
3) Measure up before you buy.... work out the various cars that you might put on it, take wheelbase, front/rear overhangs into account to ensure that you can fit it in the garage in a way that means you can use it. I've a run of work benches across the back of the garage so end up a little constrained on length... had to plan positioning v. carefully to ensure that I could get all the cars on.
4) Delivery: this thing is bloody heavy... you need to be very clear on how it is being delivered and what is being brought to help get it off the lorry. Mine turned up on a flat bed with no means of lifting it down. Took a lot of very careful and clever working it down to floor level. Next time I would have to 100% confirm that come method of lifting it/craning it from lorry to ground was available.

However, without a doubt a great investment.
However, the £1500 one looks a pretty handy tool too. Quite fancy that myself!

The model you are now looking at is differant from mine, I would check the length against your wheel base!
Plus how your car would fit on it!
The middle of the car is more obtainable with this one than mine!

Scott, i have the 1st one, look in the T350 section of the forums. Only drawback as with most lifts regarding tvr's is that you have to have a couple of planks of wood to gain the clearance . inch planks does my T350. Otherwise i cant fault the scissor lift for the price.

Apologies, I meant to put this in the last thread, but I'll pop it on here instead. RFC's is silly money (inexpensive) - and if it is well anchored/ more stable than it looks, it really is a great buy. thumbup We paid silly money (expensive) for ours, but we wanted something ridiculously strong/stable so we could do whatever - and with no central obstructions, so we could have access to everything other than the outriggers... even then, with the rubber lifting inserts supplied (a choice of them) we can get reasonable access to these too.

Flat

Raised to nearly full height (we have height issues, so we didn't need much higher.

With my daily drifter on it

A view of access at 90%ish my screen comes a bit close to a shelf (the T's doesn't) so I haven't yet had mine at full height...

We're yet to sort out lighting and such, but for us and our tiny garage, it is perfect. I'd post photos of the T350 on them, but I have forgotten to take any paperbag - it fits perfectly though, you can take off wheels/ access everything and it has extra locking mechanisms/ is extremely stable. A must for us. If you've ever had a car fall on you like I have, you value these things greatly.

Downsides; Cost. It cost a bit over £2k. It needs an air compressor - which we went overboard on, we want air tools! evil and err, its not as portable as the 'mobility' pack it came with would suggest. It moves, but its a very heavy thing - but to mis-quote Snatch "heavy is good, heavy is reliable stable." A four poster would not give access like this/ would not fit, nor would a two poster - but we have a pretty small garage. Do love having a garage though, first time in 22years we've had one, so we're making the most of it. smile

Looks good.

does it have a means to lift by the centre chassis rails so you could get to outriggers?

Hi mark

It comes with rubber blocks, So not the best to get at them that way. I will just lift he car on the ramp and lower it on to 4 high axle stands to get at them. ( That's what i am doing just now on the Axle stands) Got to be quicker than jacking a corner up at a time and then going round all 4 corners again to lower it.

But i am sure i could make something up to lift by the Center of the Chassis but i don' t think i will really need to
