Falling in love at 40

It shouldn't happen. It really shouldn't happen. We have 81 years and 3 marriages between us. We've been there, done that and got the t-shirt. In fact, we've had to get a new t-shirt, because the original one faded and had a few holes in it - that's how long we'd had the t-shirt.
We are old, jaded and cynical. It shouldn't happen.
So why then, did we spend the first hour of our first meeting smiling like loons until our cheeks ached, giggling inanely, looking at each other then looking away and generally acting like 19-year-olds on their first date at the local Odeon? For crying out loud, we went for a walk and held hands - in public!
Is it wrong for "grown-ups" to be acting in this way? Is there a sell-by date on love? Or can it happen at any age?
By the way, I am in no way complaining. It's really rather wonderful.

Mate of mine in his early 40's is all loved after meeting his ideal woman on the internet. she's a similar age too. perfectly natural.
Just think, 20 or 30 years ago you'd probably have just stuck it out and not got divorced like all our parent did
