Last night I happened to be behind an Evo FQ320 (? something like that) I imagine it was tuned all to hell from the clouds of black smoke pouring out at the top of the rev range, I stayed patiently behind him along a straight bit in the damp.

But then on a wet roundabout I got a bit keen on the throttle as he gave it a little at the straight ahead moment during right->left transition at the exit and the rear end kind of got a bit unnecessary. By the time I'd gathered it up and was able to get on the power again he'd fled off up the road.

I do hope I've not started a "My EVO eats GT2s for lunch" type thing somewhere on the interweb...

lol but sorry guys...

Oh dear, I think you may have.

This will not go down well, especially up here.

Now will have to take the W signs from Evo drivers as well as the rest of the underprivileged, inter related, knuckle dusted d/heads. wink

Perhaps, but I still feel embarrassed because it was me and not the car. If I'd not been quite so hamfisted I could have stayed with him.

If I'd driven it properly and still the chap strolled off that'd have been another thing.

To be fair in ste weather not much will stay with a Scooby/Evo..4wd with tricky diffs etc really do give a massive advantage..years back i got left for dead round the lanes in my tricked up Sierra Cosworth by some old geezer in a rS2 with 3 kids and a dog in the back..im sliding about like Torville and Dean and hes got one hand on the steering wheel! My solution was to buy an Escort Cosworth a week later.smile

I never try to drive enthusiastically with anyone where there are corners involved - just wait until the straights when you can show them who the better driver is wink

I'd imagine an RS2 would still give an escort cossie a good run for its money

+1. That is exactly my approach to showing others how good a driver I am smile (albeit in a C2S).

Well you're very kind I'm sure, but in this case the guy was a bit of a tube and I'd had no trouble on the previous corners plus had more speed than him round the tricky bit of the roundabout in question. If I was just bit less brutal with the throttle I'd have happily been large in his mirrors through the complex and up the straight to properly annoy him.

Still, you live and learn. I let him go after that because I'd have been even more embarrassed to just use my power to catch up again.

One of my old tricks in my old Scooby was to keep pace with someone on the straights and then nail it into a RAB and watch them slide / st their pants when they arrived into the RAB about 20mph faster than their car would be able to even consider taking it at. BMW 3/5 series were always good fun, as were S2000s, Mercs and the odd ahhhhem.... Porsche... biggrin

Not this guy. My slide was entirely self inflicted -- he wasn't captain cornerspeed my any means.
