Anti-social old biddy.
Discussion
Started my 5 litre RV8 up in Waitrose underground car park this afternoon in Cheltenham, no throttle blipping, just pressed the button and a clean start. My cockpit routine is to always do a quick scan to ensure no virgins in white dresses are within spitting distance of the exhausts.
After starting, I glanced right and caught site of a lady of advancing years shaking her head side to side. I beckoned her "with an after you" before I reversed out of the parking space, though she came up to the driver's door and said "your EXENGINE(?)is antisocial". Not wishing to argue the finer points of TVRs, the Great War and how her Volkswagen and her late husband's Audi Estate was so wonderfully quiet and the strict distinctions between engines and exhausts I replied "I'm sorry", letting her still pass behind me (without her thanks to note), maybe I shouldn't have hesitated and lessened the burden on the NHS and my taxes.
On driving away I thought: was this a back handed compliment (to me it was, grinning) to her it wasn't intended to be, then I thought:
Just theorectically, tables turned supposing she let me pass without I thanking her and I stopped her to discuss her vulgar shopping trolley, how it lowered the tone of the place and was she considering the government's scrappage scheme for her trolly and human power unit, she would be calling the police, no doubt!
Driving on I saw a blue Tuscan parked up from Cheltenham Ladies College and driving through Tewkesbury later, a white van man gave the "TVR nice car mate" thumbs up after flashing him out of the M5 junction. My faith was restored immediately.
Next time I see her I want to see a Pistonheads sticker on her trolley! Or else I vote compulsory euthanasia for ugly ones as a start.
What would you have done?

Been there, had similar comments..even from a neighbour!
Move on, lifes to short to worry about 'miserable' people. She probably moans about everything!
I do understand your feelings though - and i bet you wished you had said something, coz it eats at you!
Deep breath, enjoy your fine TVR.

I have had this before and in a Waitrose car park. My cerbera was v v v loud though so I Cant blame the old biddy that walked over and had a go at me re the noise. All I did however was to smile and thank her - she replied 'no your car is very noisey', so I kept saying 'how kind of you' without a hint of sarcasm etc...
Had that only once in a carpark, (plenty of good comments though) - I just revved it and put my finger to my ear and said 'Sorry I can't hear you?!' (just like Mavrick in Top Gun) and floored it out of the carpark
Slightly immature but it made me chuckle

This is simlar (but not the same) to what happened to me and my friend Roy on our way home from the London to Brighton run on the 7th.
We'd come out of Maderia Drive and were heading east along the "upper promanade" (not sure what that road is called) that runs parallel to Maderia Drive. We were stopped at the pedestrian crossing and an elderly gent decided last minute instead of using the crossing to cross behind my friend's Chim and in front of my Wedge, as he was almost exactly between the chim's exhausts the lights changed and my friend (who didn't realise the old man was there) went to pull away and the old man left the ground he jumped that much.
It did amuse me, maybe he'll use the crossing properly next time?

I was sat in a car park one day with 3 OAP's at the rear of the car. I waited for approximately one minute to see if they would move before starting the engine but they didn't. I then fired her up as gently as i could but there were a few waves of the walking sticks so i had to give it a few revs to shut them up.
F*** em i say!

Are you sure it wasn't a grumpy old man who lives in Redditch? Small bloke that looks like a weasel, wears terrible cardigans and drives a car that should have been in the scrap yard years ago? Lives down the road from me and had the cheek to follow on foot down down my drive when I returned home in my chim 500 and give me ear ache as I came out of the garage after I had put it away? The little toad who was very very rude in front of my girlfriend and made her feel uncomfortable in her own home when she is there on her own? Told me to get those f'''king exhausts fixed cos he and his dear grumpy old wife had reported me to the council over them?
He wasn't so brave when I asked which house he lived in.....
I can't decide - do I go for louder pipes and a de-cat or do I invite as many of you as would like to come out for a drive, round for a 'drive by' down our lane?!! Let me know if you would like to!

Why not do both - although thinking about it you may want to wait with the de-cat until after you've had a word with the council about how your car is standard, MOT'ed, in fine technical nick and fully Type Approved, and how you would like the complainant to wind his neck down.
