How do I keep neighbours fecking cats off the soft top!!??
Discussion
Long story short.
Neighbour (nice lady) has Suzuki Jimny soft top. Neighbours cats think "ahh, nice place to kip, up on the roof. Good view, warm in the sunshine, lovely". Neighbours cats spend many a happy hour curled up on mummy's Jimny (not a euphemism!) No problem to me, her cats, her car, fine.
Then neighbour sells Jimny, and a week or two later I buy MX5 with cloth roof. Displaced cat's think "ahh, how convenient, another soft top to curl up on". Cue roof in need of regular de-furring (white cats, black roof) and paw prints up and down bonnet and windscreen.
I can't really complain to neighbour as she can't realistically stop them sleeping on it. And of course they've been sleeping on similar on her drive for years.
I have tried having a stern talk with one of them I found on there once but I'm not sure it speaks English (have theory all cats are aliens anyway, but that's another story).
Did manage to get one with a bucket of water this evening which was quite satisfying but mostly they do it when I'm at work or late at night, only caught them (might just be one of them, impossible to tell, both look the same to me) twice.
Have bought some CataPult Animal Repellent Spray which I'm going to spray on the ground and on the wall I park the car next to, but anyone got any other suggestions (apart from the usual unimaginative ones to do with nice lady neighbours back doors etc)?

Air rifle! (This is a serious suggestion)
Or you could get a super soaker and wait till they do try to sleep on it? And book the next day off work.
I quite like that idea, but it's catching the little buggers in action. I've managed it twice in three or four weeks! They're crafty bOr you could get a super soaker and wait till they do try to sleep on it? And book the next day off work.

squirt it with a water pistol/squirty water bottle from the window. It will soon learn and wont be harmed.
I'd go with that as best idea, but as I said above, it's catching the little feckers. I see fur every day, but very rarely cats. Twice in three weeks despite a lot of checking out the window. So I'm not sure I could get them often enough to make the point stick.Ari said:

I have found that adding sugar to the bucket of water can be effective. The little sods hate being sticks and spend the rest of the day getting washed in their own spit. Cats are said to be very clean but this habbit never stuck me a higenic for some reason.

I used an ultrasonic cat repeller in my last garden. It worked a treat. Cost about £40, but worth every penny.
