996 SPS question
Discussion
Hi all,
I'm thinking of scratching a long term itcj and taking the plunge into 996 SPS ownership. one quick question is how tall is the seat? At 5'6" I'm not a tall guy and wondered if I'd be on tip toes too much? I'm guessing the seat is quite narrow, so this should help.
Also, anything major and obvious that i should be aware of when viewing or buying?
Cheers
Mike

I don't think you'd have any problems. I feel huge on my 996S and both feet are flat on the floor with knees bent when I sit on the bike. It's narrow so doesn't spread your legs. I'm 6 foot.
You do weigh it down nicely though

I bought an old Fast Bikes mag which gave an account of a buyers guide to purchasing an SPS, the main sentance I remember is buy with your head and not your heart, I looked at a few and drove to London from Plymouth to look at one the lad had it in his front room and it was mint, yet as it had been stood still it lacked good service history with documented back up, on the phone he assured me FSH, so was mightly pissed off and told him so.I'm thinking of scratching a long term itcj and taking the plunge into 996 SPS ownership. one quick question is how tall is the seat? As long as belts have been done, valve clearances are checked and oil, filter on time you'll be fine, but buy with your head.
I love mine, done some track days on her, been to South of France twice, Isle of Man TT and commuted to Plymouth from Northants and of late Brecon Beacons to Northants, in fact writing this get me excited about going out on her again!
Enjoy mate, you'll stand in the garage for hours and each ride is such an awesome experience in my opinion.
Finally once I go back home at the weekend i'll post up some bits on the buyers guide for you if you still need it.
