hi all

i need good advice/help to rectify problems with my new windscreen fited by the AA for my S3C

3 weeks ago i had a new windscreen fitted by the AA , the screen was fitted ok but the rubber type seal/mastic
that goes between the glass and the surround of my car looks awful ,i know this is applied by hand and tooled in place,
they have been twice to put things right but they just don't know how to do it and make a good job of it !

does anyone know the product that should be used to get a good finish ? i think this will have to be oil based so it can be worked
if the AA can't do the job a last resort will be to get someone on recommendation from you guys to put it right

can anyone recommend me a windsreen company/fitter in the south east that can do this specialised job for me

thanks guys keith

Phil's team (as in the above link) did my wedge and were greatclap

My V8S took the R#C weeks to do, they got the wrong screena and were very, very poor. The final job was good eventually but total rubbish service.

Got Gerald booked in next week for a new screen with Mobile Windscreens 530dTPhil, green tint with green top tint, very impressed with service so far. They sent up a clear screen plus the one I'm having so I could choose which I wanted. They want the car in their depot for 24/48 hours to make sure the job goes as it should.

Will report back after fitting with photos

hi all

update for you on my windscreen

first of all dont let your insurance conpany tell you which windscreen company to use on your "s"
use one that comes with reccomendation on tvr's "pistonheads" and has the ability to work with a hand applied sealant around your windscreen !
i would say stay clear of the big boy's they dont have the staff that can tackle an "s"

after all the aggro i've had i contacted paul of "GLASSTEC" with my problem's and he offered to tackle the bad finish to my windscreen sealant
after seeing how my car was left by the other company

i can't reccomend paul highly enough he not only took on someone else's work but has finished the job to a very high standard "very pleased"
he also made two visits to make sure that everything was as good as it could be "he really cares about your p&j"
so three cheers to the independent windscreen fitters out therebeer
if anyone wants pauls contact info here it is , paul "glasstec" tel 08456586545 mob 07703595008

Thanks Keith - very good of you.

It's always a pleasure to work on someone's P&J and your S3 was no exception.

Anybody able to recommend someone who covers the North West, Blackburn/Preston area? Not for my S but to refit the glass for an early Porsche I am helping to restore, if you ever see the price of glass for old Porsches you will see why we need someone who really knows there stuff!.

Phil's operation is south west. I have two contacts for Lancs - on a mobile device atm, but will get the deets for you in the morning.

Hi Paul,I'd be interested in your old screen. Can you describe how big and roughly where on the screen ? No "milky" bits around the edges ?
