It's been a couple of years since I refurbished & subsequently sold the Blue Insight.

I still have the Black one, but I'm always on the lookout for another project, along comes this.....

This time a Red one!

I did my usual trick, asked loads of questions, asked for photos, bought unseen & got it transported to Bristol.

It was described as "body in good condition", well in short, it's not really. It looks OK, if a little in the photos, but in reality it's had a poor respray at some point that needs a bloody good flat & polish to sort, it looks dull, dry & very orange peely.

It'll live on the drive with my other one, I'll get the MOT done as a priority, sort the IMA pack (144v battery in the boot), the wheels, the usual service etc, then decide what to do with it.

If the wheels are too far gone I'll pop some steelies on with moonies...

It arrived with me yesterday lunchtime & took up residence on my driveway (the part of the drive that doesn't have builders supplies on it)

As I said, the respray it's had at some point is terribly dry and orange peeled, it's kill or cure with some compound & a hard pad on the rotary.......

I clayed the paint on the left rear 1/4 panel and attacked it with some Menz IP on a very hard polishing sponge I had knocking around using the Kestral rotary polisher working it with quite hard pressure. How much worse could I make it.

You can just see in the area around the window in the top left the remains of some orange peel that still needs working out but it's way less than when I started.

Needs lots more work, but the early signs are promising.

Managed to start the old girl last night, really bad earth cables between the engine & body were preventing the 12v starter operating properly, so I managed to engage the help of the daughters, aged 8 & 11 to give me a push down the road. They were more excited than me when it fired up.

No gearbox or engine issues to report, all functions 100% as it should.

OK,

Time for some work on the door, stty paint job....

Hard white pad on the rotary with Men'z IP only, just many, many passes, will need finishing of with FF, but not until all of the panels have had a dose of IP on the hard pad.

Had a couple of spare hours this morning. Bonnet covered in scratches like this. ...

Plenty of wet sanding and machine polishing later.....

Oh, remember those skanky headlights?

They got a polish with wet & dry followed by machine polishing.

sorted one of the manky mirror bases today, popped the whole lot apart, rubbed it down & resprayed .

Also sorted one of the door cards, various oily, dirty marks & even some mould!!!!

Popped it off, sprayed it with G101 & jet washed it clean. Then left to dry in the sun. I still need to dress the plastic part with aerospace 303

Well, the red car is in for it's MOT on Wednesday, all polished up & ready to sell on after MOT'd.

The old girl scrubs up pretty well, just the RH wings & door to sort final polish with the rotary.

IMA pack has been sorted to, some cycling has thankfully recovered it.
