pre cat temp gauge lay out.

Just purchased my first Griff a 4.3 pre cat. I have read about the overheating issues / concerns but fingers crossed think i am ok. Just wondering if someone can clarify, my temp gauge is one with black dials and has limited markings. Just trying to work out where the 90 deg mark is as the 90 deg sign and the single white line just above it dont seem to totally correspond, the white line being slightly higher. Is this me looking too hard or is the white line 90. The fans do kick in on the white line. Just want to be sure im not running too hot.

There is a picture on This Thread of my Pre-Cat 4.3 running at normal if that helps.

Don't worry too much about the accuracy of the gauges though, you are wasting your time. Make a note - mental or with bits of tape on the dials - of what 'normal' is on for your car and worry if things change.

I've just run to more than 3000miles to Malaga and back in my Pre-Cat in temperatures we recorded at 40C during the day and on that day although my temp climbed just over the white line it never had a problem keeping cool.

My fans kick in when the gauge indicates just over the white line.

Have fun, enjoy driving and tinker when it needs tinkering with rather than believing the rubbish written about our cars being unreliable.
