Hey guys,

Maybe I'm in the wrong place to ponk down an intro thread but its a progress thread also so hope thats ok smile

I'm a member of 350Z-UK and for some reason have never rezally ventured onto pistonheads until now.

I thought i'd fit iridium spark plugs as the car was 5 years old, put denso iridium ones in smile

Then the biggy which i had been working on from almost day one was complete:

Then i decided the boot lighting wasn't quite good enough when my boot was full of cack so i added some lighting:

Then new alloys, some bridgestone RE050's. got put on yesterday also had a service, got some 10mm spacers put on aswell on the front. needs a set of 15mm spacers at the back.

theres a bunch of other things i need to add tbh, ill get round to it soon.

UPDATE:

she got a wash the other day and while i wait for the new centre caps to be fabricated i cleaned up the old ones and put them back on, not my style choice but look better than a hole.

UPDATE:

also fitted the new mk2 under strut bar lights ,

compared to the old ones:

UPDATE 14 March 2010:

gave her a clean today and put her old dancing shoes back on smile just need to get the front spacers off and shes back to normal after the rainy season.

the other wheels will go up for sale.

UPDATE 01 May 2010:

She recently got a very nice new present :teeth: a lovely shiny gearbox :yahoo: :yahoo:

its a 16k mile gearbox which is very much like new to replace the faulty one with a synchro problem in 5th and 6th its had since day one. She's also had a new exedy clutch and stock flywheel as they suffered due to the box faults.

The gearbox is faultless and the car drives brilliantly now

UPDATE 23 May 2010

Went into falcon on friday and got

-new front ARB drop links fitted
-front 10mm spacers removed
-front right wheel bearing and hub assembly replaced with new
-new BCM fixing the dome light issue
-new dome light board
-new brake discs
-new brake pads
-full service
-MOT

nearly there now smile

she's driving great now the problems are slowly being fixed one at a time and if im honest i actually prefer it that i've had all these problems crop up. from what i can tell most zeds at some point get all these problems and i can be sure that once all fixed i should have a few years uninterrupted happy zedding smile

UPDATE 19th June 2010

Got my CV joints changed for brand new uprated ones fixing the clicky axle problem

also got my new wheels fitted biggrin

Five axis, 5AD, S5:F Wheels
295 30 r19, 10.5 wide, backs
265 30 r19, 9.5 wide, fronts

UPDATE 29th June 2010

Today some bits arrived from chilli store, they arrived about 16 hours after me ordering them :scare: :#1: :#1:

So some Phillips silver bulbs, some clear reflectors and a pot of rim wax.

The bulbs went in along with the reflectors and then rim waxed the front wheels, have to say rim waxing matte wheels is far from fun or easy frown then gave a tyre shine and clean and took some piccies.
managed it all including picture taking in 4 hours smile

a few days previous to this i fitted 3mm spacers to the front wheels to bring them to a 22 offset smile

UPDATE 21st Aug 2010

nothing major just gave her a scrub today in between the monsoon, decided on using aqua wax as i couldnt guarantee it would be dry half way through waxing, brilliant wax, worked a treat as always!! also gave the wheels a good scrub, bought an autoglym wheel brush. and the exhaust, gave it a wipe with some 1500grit and then autosol polished it. not going to go wild on it as it will be coming off in the near future :ninja:

received the wheel touch up paint from the five axis factory today with a free keyring too. the service from troy and the guys there is first class!!! :yahoo:

PS: look at that beauty of a scuff on the bumper, i think im just going to punt the whole bumper in the bin

UPDATE 18th Sept 2010

Nismo Rad cap

nice quick and easy mod :#1:

its nice to know some mods are painless biggrin

UPDATE 08 Jan 2011

forgot to add this to the thread.

Rim protectors protected the wheels nicley over the winter months. very happy with them. they will come off for the summer though smile

Hi and welcome to Pistonheads, I've been a member here for about 8 or 9 years.

I own a 313 GT Roadster, the Z's are great to drive and own.

Looks like you have been busy lately, including your mods and the need to ensure your Z is in perfect condition.

That's what Z ownership is about.

Your car looks great.

Just a few questions

How do you find the Vredestein Tyres for grip, longetivity , compared with the Bridgestones ?

How does the ride quality compare on 19" rims, to the original Ray's ?

Brake pads, discs did you upgrade or fit OEM, are they better / worse ?

The vredestein tyres are brilliant, couldn't ask for more and at a great price. There are lots of people going with falkens but after having the vredesteins I find they are such a great all round tyre I wouldnt go for anything else in the same price range. I got a deal on them from camskill when i was buying on the larger size i was looking for, I got all 4 for 600 quid.

The ride quality is no different at all, I go over some big speed bumps at work every day and there is no difference in feel there nor is there any difference in hardness of ride on the road. The tyres are quite wide at 295 at the back and 265 at the front so I do get a bit more road noise, the grip is phenomenal though. biggrin

The brakes at the moment I just opted for OEM as I am having a Wilwood BBK fitted at the end of febuary. I decided there was no reason to waste money on posh pads and discs if they were coming off. But the stock stuff is just terrible. The wheels are constantly covered in dust and the braking is just disappointing. If i wasn't swapping them out i would put some nice pads, discs, braided lines and fluid on the brembo set up. you really don't need any more than this for some impressive braking unless you're going to the ring.

Bought some 14mm and 17mm tein lowering springs today. Although I'm not normally one to go for the quick fix option i felt coilovers were overkill as the car will never see a track. (yes i know you have to wonder why im getting a bbk then lol)

Thanks for the welcome smile

Thanks smile I love them to bits.

Whats the thought no upgrading them to 20's....? im considering it. it wont cost me anything as i'm the UK supplier for those wheels but im curious to know if people think its a step to far making it OTT?

I think 20's are a bit too much IMO, they looks just right the way it is now!

Ugh, Pistonheads sure is going downhill nowadays, all these damn "ricers" with their "jap crap"

You can't polish a turd, but you can buy one from a vending machine in Japan.
