Has anyone taken the time to look at this: -

http://www.strongfordgarage.co.uk/detail.php?vid=6...

a 996 RS, low miles, for £49,995

If I recall correctly, white was offered as a 'special' option for the later RSs?

Sorry, long friggin day! banghead

I meant I thought black decals were an option, alongside the wheels, late in the series. Or, am I incorrect, and this is simply a modification that someone has done.

Wasn't this for sale privately on here last month and it has been damaged?

AGT Law will confirm one way or another and apologies if I'm mistaken. I hate car-bashing at the best of times, so don't want to play a part in it. smile

There was definaty a White/Black decal cat D for sale a few weeks back.

Factory options were only Red or Blue. About 1/4 of the UK cars were Blue I believe.

This ^

I think it was originally advertised on here with a passing nod to its "history", the vendor then changed the ad and removed any mention of it. Stand to be corrected though . . . .

Cat D car. It was on Pistonheads a few weeks ago at £53,735. Advert mentioned that an Autoalign certificate was available and "body repairs by Ninemeister." A week or so later the advert was changed to remove any reference to its dubious provenance. Then the advert was removed.

Could be a good car but bear in mind that "Cat D" is more than simply an insurance claim - you'll often see ridiculous adverts that refer to "bumper damage only" - but please note that all Cat D cars have been written off by the insurer. It's been in a big accident.

As mentioned above, all of these cars are carrara* white from the factory. This car was originally white and red - it's obvious from the photos if you know what to look for. wink

  • Carrara as in the place / marble.

Some cat D cars where written off as a result of a total loss due to theft.
The Autoalign certificate and the reference to body repairs certainly nod towards a big shunt.
Wouldn't Ninemeister be able to shed some light on its past??

A most apt choice of phrase perhaps.

Subject to a JZM type inspection thou it cud well be a good car.
If your intended use is not to pamper it then it may well be a good buy but why not be upfront in the advert and say that it's been crashed when the previous advert had mentioned it. Then again there is a very well know 964 RS been for sale at a specialist for 2yrs and there is no mention of that cars history despite it being all over another forum.
Due diligence is always required me thinks

I've been sent some info on this car. It has something of a chequered past and if you're interested in buying it then you may wish to check the quality of the repairs. Yes, plural.

Bugger! So it was smashed up when in original spec and again in its new "black" guise. Not good!

Hi Andrew. Yes very interesting it's wearing the black decal prior to this crash. Looks like the ring no?
