I could do with a bit of help with relays please.
I am trying to put a relay in the headlight circuit but am getting it wrong.
Do I need one or two relays?
Whereabouts in the circuit does it/they go ?
I think that the fact that there is a dim/dip module in the circuit is making it hard for me to understand.

I looked at doing this a while ago but in the end I just cleaned up all the connectors. I still think the relays would be worth it though.
I had a wiring diagram sketched on top of the cars diagram with all the changes that would need to be made along with part numbers of relays and everything. If I can figure out where I put the note book I'll post it up. I always put things in "safe places"
On the Dim-Dip front just unplug the module. Without it the Dim-Dip system doesn't work but all the lights still work correctly. Then all you need to do is connect up the wires that currently go to the headlights to the signal terminal relays and a wire from the battery (make sure it's fused) to the switched terminal. I seem to remember that you need 2 relays, one for dipped beam and one for main beam but make sure they can handle the current.

You'll need two of these
they will have 4 terminals, numbered 85 and 86 these make it switch. the other two are 87 and 30 these are connected when the relay switches.
Decide on somewhere convenient to mount them.
find the wire that currently feeds main beam (blue with white trace), connect this to terminal 85
take a wire from 86 to earth
run a new wire from battery (via an inline fuse 15A) to terminal 87 (minimum 2mm cable or maybe referred to as 28/.30mm cable)
run another 2 new wires from terminal 30 to main beam connections on headlamp bulbs
repeat process for dip beam (blue with red trace)
easy as that

When I push light switch up one click there is a horrible noise and no light.
Up two clicks and beam is on.
Will check and recheck connections when I can. Probably not until Monday at earliest.

Sounds like the dim dip module is still in circuit, you need to remove to stop the relay chattering. You will then get only side lights on the first position and no feed to the dip beam.When I push light switch up one click there is a horrible noise and no light.
Up two clicks and beam is on.

I hadn't understood that I had to remove the dim dip. Once that was done it's brilliant. Really is brilliant ~ proper lights giving out proper light and not looking like a birthday candle!
