I just wanted to stress that this isn't a scam, but is an official mail from us that will help us to ensure the personal information we hold about you is correct, in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.

Having the correct data means we can communicate with you regarding things like Sunday Service meets you have signed up to (many emails bounce), and it means the correct email address is linked to the forum's PM system too. Be assured that you can still set your personal preferences with regards to third party emails and suchlike in the normal way.

We can't make you act on the email, that's your choice, but I wanted to reassure you that it is genuine and secure.

Well for me, I updated mine in my profile and people who PM me it comes to the right address. The ones PH send about clothing etc still go to my old address, so although it doesn't bounce in this instance, I rarely see them.

We've got members who have been here for years and years and in that time their email has changed but the one attached to their PH membership hasn't been updated.

When we host a Sunday Service I send a mail to all on the list with joining instructions, or a PH smiley to show as they arrive, only to get loads of 'address doesn't exist' type mails in reply. What happens then is lots of people post in the thread saying 'I never got the logo Garlick'

If a few people update their email addresses as a result of our message it will stop this from happening and I'll be

Well yes, as we can cleanse the DB from bouncers.

600 odd sent to an average PHSS list, 340k on the DB total. There is a method to the madness, and standard practice.

What's better about no associated email, apart from one very small, slightly relieved hamster?

Why not just put a banner up that says, 'hey Trashbat, your email address is meant to be [e-mail], is it really?'. That could even be user specific.
