Hello all,

I was travelling on the M6 southbound with my friend last night, who I consider to be a very competent driver. It was around 11pm when we set off and we were driving at a constant speed of 80 leptops on the speedo, around 72 leptops according to the GPS. He set the cruise control in his M3. Whilst on our journey, we of course, even at such a time at night, came across the usual blithering idiots who don't know to keep left unless overtaking.

My mate, without touching the accelerator, kept going from lane 1-lane 3, then back to lane 1 to overtake these blithering fools plodding along in their own world. We had been doing this for some time, when we noticed a car behind was doing exactly the same. However, as my friend was driving to the conditions, speed limit and doing everything legally, we thought nothing of it.

After being followed for some time, the blues and twos came on. Here we go...

I'm not going to type the whole conversation out, however it went along the lines of:

BiB - why are you weaving? been drinking? is this your car? where have you been? can we search the car?

We were nothing but polite back, and explained that of course we had not been drinking as we were driving and were just following correct lane discipline. The traffic cop breathalised my mate, no problems there. He then went on to lecture my mate saying that you must overtake (he should have said undertake) these MLM's in lane 1, rather than going to lane 3 then back to lane 1 as it is more risky. This is when he said he was reporting my mate for driving without due care and atteention. My mate challenged this, as surely by changing lanes it proves that he was driving with care and attention.

Thoughts please? My mate is going absolutely mad, and quite rightfully so I'd say, he did nothing wrong at all!

Presumably if he had passed on the inside that would have been a dangerous driving charge.

And Vonhosen wonders why we object to MLMs!

Is this your same "mate" who was also recently charged with dangerous driving for running over a deer (we're still waiting for pictures...) or your mate who was charged for taking photos of a muslim woman? Again we're still waiting to hear what it said on his charge sheet...

I suspect that like the other incidents you've lied about, this one is also total bks. I'll happily be proved wrong of course...

I very much doubt you do exactly as his mate did. You may do what he described but I'd suggest the manoeuvre was probably a lot more exagerated than described.

I'm sure the OP will say it's not but then the OP has more contact with the police than most the bib on these forums do.

Other considerations aside, what do you think the speed limit is? - Streaky

You sure do have unlucky mates. How are the "Photographer" & the "Dangerous Driver" getting on anyway?

I am personally not a fan of the police and take a dim view of many things they do, but i cant see them really trying to pull this one off if as you say, you were sticking to speed limits.

i would have thought they would have to completely reverse the story and lie by saying you were undertaking, which i cant really see them doing...

Awaits to be proven wrong

so the OP admits to being in a car driven at 80 mph instead of the 70 mph suggestion ?

his friend is constantly undertaking other cars and notices a car behind doing the same, yet carries on doing it ?

Where did yuo read this from?

The GPS (actual speed) verified 72mph, which is not prosecutable under the ACPO guidelines.

My friend was OVER taking, using the 3rd lane, not lane 1.

There's a clue in the name, guidelines - they're just a guide. Speeding is an absolute offence, there is no margin.

PS - I'd start looking for some new "mates" wink

I honestly think the OP is lying, going by his recent posts.

I'd like to know how you and your mates manage to get stopped so often. You are obviously doing something wrong in order to attract that much attention.

It's a combinatoin of fantasy, pathological lying and a circle of friends who have large chips on shoulders, I would imagine.

Either way, these threads by the OP are of little or no value in this forum- they don't stand up to scrutiny or common sense and we're not stupid enough to take the OP at face value.
