Don't know if any of you guys have had any problems with these but I was pulling the front off the nob last night to fit new coolers and do the tunnel mod and I came across these,

The two pictures above were of the low pressure hose from the rack back to the cooler which had completley collapsed inside as the inner part of the hose had breached the fluid, you could pull each side of the hose and it would tear apart.

this picture above was the high pressure hose from the steering pump to the rack at the front and had started to crack on the outer sleeve, it would probably of been okay but I have had new ones made up today just in case.....
Just worth taking a look at your cars if your fiddling with it smile

Would you believe mine has just split, weekend just gone. I wasn't intending dropping the floor pans to do the tunnel mod but if they will have to come off to replace this then so be it.

Does it look like a pig to change? I had a quick look under the front clam and it looks like you have to remove the majority of false bulkheads just to be able to see what's going on!

Cheers

Simon,
If you remove the front clam you can get good access to the cooler fittings and access to Remove and feed the hose under the rad towards the steering rack.

You can then get access the the rack fittings from the drivers side front wheel arch, a 6mm Allen key takes off the holding plate that secures the end of the hoses into the rack.

The easy one to change is the low pressure hose which was by far the worst condition on mine, I had a new one made today which was 4 ft long and has a -6 Female elbow on one end and the original rack fitting on the other (which I had to carefully cut of to supply to the hose company to re-use)

The other hose coming out of the rack looked a bit cracked on mine but was probably ok so I decided to change it anyway. This hose runs down the tunnel and up to the power steering pump near the reservoir , again I re-used the rack fitting but the other end was a -6 straight female and the hose was 14ft 8" long.
I have my engine out at the moment so it was easy to remove but the hose is fixed on the bottom of the engine bay and bulkhead with p clips etc and you would also need to remove some of the front panels to get access to the tunnel so a bh of a job. Don't know if this all makes sense as lt,s been typed on my phone.

Short of it is............. Hope it's the low pressure hose which is the left fitting looking at the cooler
as it's quite a quick and easy job

Matty,

I can't thank you enough for your help with this, albeit at a distance and especially the research. Just thought I would reiterate my thanks as I probably didn't make it very clear quite how gratefull I am during our telephone conversation yesterday.

Thanks again

Look forward to meeting up in June.

Simon
