I've just spent this evening removing my "cats" ....ready to fit some Edward Quick conical decats (I hadn't ordered them yet, as i wanted to double check the diameters of the pipes )

To my surprise , the cat housings were empty rolleyes

Theres another similar thread here : http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... on the 350/Tam/Sag page.

but i wanted to ask the tuscan owners if they also have experience in this area:
ie is there any real :

1) Performance / running difference ?
2) Noise difference ?

between a hollowed out original cat can and a conical NTEL or 'Quick ' design .. Any further experience would be helpful. So far i would err on the side of saving £200-300 and accepting my current 'decat' pipes.

Mine pops and bags and sounds 'good' at the moment ...I was hoping decat pipes would allow better heat management (and a bit more speed six noise) ...but i guess i have already achieved that ....

Oh well , now to 'attempt' take off the manifold for Zircotec coating ...

Can't say about any noticable performance, but as for noise...Fook me!
I can now make it pop & bang on demand and the noise on overrun from 3000rpm is awesome.
So one thing that is a definite is the noise, other than that, I'll leave it to an expert.

+1. The noise is the nuts

I have got the act cone type decats, i havent really felt much difference in performance really, its gard to feel a couple of horsepower when you have the type of power / weight you have in a tuscan.
I think im going to purchase a decat chip though, just to put my mind at rest that all is 100%.
Then maybe sleeve my cans, it does get addictive

If you are going for a remap , I would leave the Zircotec coating of your manifolds until afterwards. Lengthy duration at high revs and the associated heat has discoloured my sterling silver coating frown .
