So here we go, Son of Cerburgring for those who fancy a (Cerb biased) late 08 weekend trip to the Ring with the additional option of a trackday at Spa on the following Monday. Broadly speaking we are looking at out on Saturday, Ring on Sunday, Spa on Monday then home. The trip will be run again in association with Andy and TVR Monster and will thus be supported by Rich and lovely Dulford chaps once again (details and costs of that will follow shortly). All aspects bar Spa will be self bookable for simplicity (and to be able to adapt to suit yourselves if you want to do it differently) - Andy is holding an allocation with Autotrack for the Spa part (prices I believe around £250) so email me if you want to do the Monday there and I will run the list and liaise with Andy on that part.

Saturday 11th October
Saturday is purely a crossing day so a later start is possible compared to previous trips biggrin
We plan to cross using Eurotunnel and suggested crossing time for those wanting to travel as a gaggle is 11.20; as booking this yourselves, you can of course choose any alternative time and/or crossing method.

Suggested accommodation for Saturday night is Am-Tiergarten (hotel part of the famous Pistenklause). Again book this directly with the hotel (or be unsociable and stay elsewhere). Saturday is also Fubes' birthday so am sure we can sink a few and eat steak (assuming the big guy gets clearance to come)

Sunday 12th October
Sunday is Ring Day with the Nordschleife being open (unless things change) between 0800-1830, giving ample opportunity to hang out, drive, watch others and chat cars.

For those doing the trackday on Monday, the suggested accommodation for Sunday night is over at the Radisson Balmoral in Spa in Spa - anticipate leaving the Ring late afternoon to arrive in Spa 18.30 to 19.00. For those doing the Ring only there is an option to book another night at the Tiertgarten and catch some more Ring time on the Monday (opening hours are currently set as 1200-1830).

Monday 13th October
Monday is Spa trackday for those taking that option, or more Ring time if not. Spa is a full day open pitlane and is a pucker current GP circuit with no noise restrictions. I went in October to watch Phil (Boss) race but had opted not to do Andy's trackday then due to money and time; as soon as I saw Eau Rouge I knew that was a mistake as it just looks stunning. I knew I had to go back, hence this taking preference for me over a more traditional repeat Cerburgring II in April.

Post Spa you have the option of another night and return home on Tuesday or a late dash for the tunnel. I will be returning on a late Eurotunnel that night, aiming for about the 22:50 but realistically will just hop on the next one available once there.

It all seems a long way off but if you want to do it I would suggest getting booked up, hotels will fill and ferry prices etc will go up. The Spa trackday in particular will be subject to somewhat limited availabilty and Andy's slots will be first come first served. Hotels are bookable and cancelleable right up to day of arrival so even if you want to hold a reservation for that part you can do so risk free.

Feel free to express an interest and ask questions on here, but only once booked add you name to the list below so we can see who is definite (waits for the tumbleweed)

Booked and Confirmed
1.TC - Ring and Spa

We have the pleasure of a race to watch at the Ring as well though, but only evening laps on the Ring not day ones.

It does come along a bit of an order doesn't it hehe Wasn't meant like that, but a huge list of names means nuffink if peeps don't then follow through (whooops toilet humour again wink) - a more definitive list will help with pricing up the support and seeing what's what biggrin

So anyway as you were, now go get booking readitbiggrin

Well if you are going in a few months time, then you have plenty of time for a recharge before coming back again in October biggrin

TBH, I went through all the dates and it was because of the full ring day butting up nicely with Spa that this stood out, then Andy called me last night and said he had pinpointed the same dates and that settled it.

Will have to see what funds are like then.

Have you any idea of rough costs for this trip?

Costs should be pretty reasonable but I still hate adding em up hehe The Spa bit will add a reasonable chunk, hence why I think some will choose not to do that part. But basically if booking now it should be something like:

EuroTunnel - £100
Am-tiergarten, Nurburg - £50
Radisson, Spa - £100
Ring - Laps x £15 or 4laps £50 or £more
Spa - £250
Support - £40-50 Ring only, £80-100 for both (guestimate only, yet to be finalised)
TOTAL - £650ish plus food and petrol.

If one takes out Spa and takes a 2nd night at Nurburg which is cheaper, then could be half that.

The nurburg hotel wont let me book on line, it says I've got to call. I've picked up a bit of german from watching "allo allo", but I'm not confident it's enough to book a room.

Also, does anyone know their policy on bed wetting ?

No.... The bit of language I picked up from "Allo Allo" only stretches to "Zee Madonna with zee big boobys"...... There's only so far you can get on that line, and I'm pretty sure it's not A free room upgrade.

I'm off to try & rebook, I'll see if the computer has any more luck than my phone.

TC, did you have to "ring" them.....see what I did there..... or could you book online ?

I'm starting to think it's a conspiracy, and I'm on some sort of "IP address register" smile

Before I book anything what are the thoughts about the return journey. Is anyone thinking about staying the Monday night and taking a more sedate drive back on the Tuesday morning, or are we all going for the late sprint back to the Eurotunnel on the Monday evening.
