Bit harsh if you ask me. But then posting a video of yourself speeding on the net is a tad daft.

Charge was Dangerous driving, that's what he was jailed for.

Don't think there was enough video on the link. Not much traffic, esp compared to the other video discussed a few days ago here (the 20 min video).

Hi smile

As I understand it, you CANNOT be sent to prison for speeding, but you CAN for dangerous driving.....

So WHY did he plead guilty to dangerous driving ??

Particularly as the officer in that video said he wasnt driving badly...

Bad legal advice maybe ?

There isn't really enough video for us to comment on anything there.

Sure he says that his driving wasn't bad but we only saw 1min 30secs of footage so can't say if it deteriorated. There was obviously enough to convict but I'm surprised he got 15 months inside. He must have done something very bad to get a prison sentence.

  • edit
Just read the second story that says he's posted videos of himself doing high speeds on public roads as well. That probably didn't help him in court.

Bit more here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLDlJKNmXKg

Very bad commentary by the news reader.

The driver was also banned, had lots of previous driving convictions and refused to stop for police.

So much for the OP posting "a bit harsh".

if he,s driving on a ban then a spell inside is going to be the only thing to wake him up....

Sadly, I doubt it. He'll just be back on the streets driving around - for many people a ban simply means they don't have a license to drive, nothing to do with whether or not they actually drive around. Same as insurance and MOTs, simply a bit of paper that "other people" worry about.......

i worked with a right idiot a few years back. he drove while disqualified untill he got a stretch. he only got 2 months i think but he's never drove since!
unfortunatly people like him seem to get away with it for years....
hopefully it will stop him killing someone.

Hi smile

Technical question springs to mind here...

IF I was banned (god forbid) frown

Would ANPR flag my car up as a banned driver, by linking my ban to my registration ?

I found this video and watched it a few weeks back.. the speed is not the issue, the bloke was a donor waiting to happen. The sort of antics on the video give decent bikers the bad press.

He was dangerous. The speed was not calibrated so you would never be able to prove the speeds anyway.
