Well there's plenty of options available to you, but a few seem to take favour amongst the .nutters:
Dinan: Highly expensive but you get a warranty (albeit a 'dinan' warranty instead of BMW)
Evolve: Personalised and done on a dyno, that's what I have on mine and results are great, although no way of turning it off for a service
JB3 (Juicebox 3 from burger motorsports): a Plug and play box that you put in your ECU. Great as you can take it out (20mins) for warranty work, also upload new updated maps to it (by inserting a new chip... but its being worked on all the time, check out their website www.n54tech.com)
Vishnu Procede V3: What seems like a more advanced version of JB3. Several different options, but there are wireless remote map switching, downloadable maps etc. You can have a valet mode, high/low boost, race fuel etc or even customise your own maps.
Probably missed quite a few, but these seem to be the most talked about. Seems e90post.com is all about Vishnu and n54tech.com is all about JB3. As they have some if not complete control over these sites their biased accounts are somewhat questionable.
Personally, If I was doing this route again, I would go for the JB3 for no other reason than it's sooo much cheaper than the others, will have the switchable maps, can be taken out if needs be (by a non-techy person)
There are millions of threads on those few websites, I'd say go see for yourself. Oh, and the Evolve team are working on switchable maps I believe but still a while away.

Yea probably best. They do have a good reputation and have just dropped their price for the re-flash. Mine does work very well, feels like it should have come like it from the factory to be honest.
My only drawback is that the car is with me in Spain, so if there's an issue and BMW upgrade the software, I can't have it done again (unless they come out with the downloadable version)

Go to e90post.com and n54tech.com mate seriously, there's even dyno graphs on there of each of the various tunes.
Mine was running 360hp first time, 380 second i believe but I have a cat-back exhaust also. Add downpipes and I'll crack 400 so that's next on the list (alongside an intercooler for the hot spanish air)

The horror story of the Seat Altea which had an ECU issue following remap that nobody could sort - half put me off any form of remap.
DMS seem to be struggling.
AC Schnitzer have one with a full warranty but it includes a few extra bits and costs £4.5k
Superchips are a big company and seem about the cheapest.
I dont understand how one company offers a 'custom' map and sets the car up on a dyno - surely the tune needs to be standard to suit the engine and provide longevity.

Think its a standard set of parameters, but for example mine had an aftermarket exhaust which it then can take into account. Not sure the whole story to be honest as never met them myself (as I mentioned, bought it 'as is') but they have good reviews.DMS seem to be struggling.

ETA: They setup the car on a dyno to your specs, I could have 400hp if I wanted to, but the map currently on is a 'safe' one.
If you want one of the piggy-back systems you need to tell them in advance to take into consideration things like an intake/exhaust etc as the map is only best used for standard cars (although im sure it works with various states of tune just not as efficiently).
The only negative aspects can be Limp mode. A few people have complained but apparently all the new systems have gotten around this now. There's also High pressure fuel pump issues in (what seems like mostly) american 35s that the vishnu now keeps an eye on for you.
The majority go for V3, JB3 or Evolve as they are the cheapest and seem to have dedicated engineers constantly upgrading (also if you bought the earlier version JB2, he's offering free upgrades to JB3). Evolve offer the personised service within the UK, you can go and talk to them in person and get you car setup perfectly for you (more torque or more power, delivery, maniac or safe etc)

Jonny, Evolve are doing an offer to forum members - see here: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18...
As for the graphs being "misleading", welcome to the world of calculated transmission losses. Quite why you'd think this particular graph is misleading, I have no idea. Dyno Dynamics have a good name for their RR hardware and software.

A good cheap mod is the superchips map which isn't really a map but a piggy back option. It's a five minute job to install/remove for servicing and provides good results. They say about 40whp difference.
No it's not that cheap but it's actually an SSTT box of tricks from the USA which superchips put a new sticker on. I bought one in america and it's amazing, the difference is night and day. i recently put the car in for it's first service and found the car so so slow without it in. The day i put it back in really made me realise how much power it was producing. I was getting wheelspin in third in the wet! BTW I have a 2006 335i manual. The SSTT is about half the prioce of the superchips version but is exactly the same.
Low and behold I am actually selling the SSTT if anyone's interested. £200 ono.
I'm going to get a JB3 for even more power, I'm getting greedy!

I didn't think chipping a NA car made a lot of difference. I thought it was turbo's where the big gains could be had.
Quite.. The 135i has 2 blowers. So lots of gains to be had.P,
