2008 Britcar 24 Hour : Andy Neate
Discussion
Thought I'd start a thread for the race.
It's not the start anybody wanted - it looks quite serious from the live streaming. Anyone else watching online?
Edit: Andy Neate was involved in the accident at the start of the race and his condition is much worse than that which was initially reported. Andy’s wife has provided an update on his condition on page 3. Further updates by Andy’s family have been posted since.

i missed the start, what happened? im looking to see if theres any info now.
My understanding is that Sharpe in the Mosler on one of the front rows spun-up for what ever reason crossing the startline. There were a few cars involved in the resulting accident, either in direct contact with the Mosler or a result of avoiding it. One of these cars was the TVR and it took some time to remove the driver from it. He was taken to the medical centre and I haven't heard an update on his condition. I'm sure there will be a more accurate and more informing account of what happened posted at some point.

Just got back home. Was on the other side of the track when the crash happened but I believe the driver put the power down hard on the line and the back stepped out. He 'couldnt correct it because the tyres were cold'. He was flown to hospital as a precaution but its thought nothing serious is wrong with him.
The atmosphere was awesome at night time. My first britcar experience. Would love to have stayed all night!

This is about as accurate a summary as I have heard, including from those with more information and better vantage points than even the views of this clip:Edit: link removed.
The TVR had to take evasive action due to the driver of the Mosler getting too hard on the gas on cold slicks. “Hot head, cold tyres”.
As a result of having to get out of the way of the Mosler the TVR driver went on to the grass and was fired back across the track to the pit wall where the Ginetta was unable to avoid impacting with it.
Hopefully the driver of the TVR will be okay.
The driver of the Mosler has been excluded from the race, although his team mates can continue so far as I am aware.
With regard to the clip above. I would suggest that if this was posted by any member of this forum they don’t admit to ownership of it and quickly edit their submission stopping it at 2:05, or earlier. The comments the cameraperson/their friends made before that are borderline understandable given it was a large incident. Those after that time though are facile in the extreme. Particularly if you have actually been standing on a pit wall when something like that has happened (yes there are a very few who are allowed to). It is not ‘awesome’. I may be a little pricky being closer to the team involved than many but feel that the comments do little credit to those who made them.
