I haven't heard of hom for ages either.

He made me smile with his antics, I dislike those scameras but lack the "bottle" he displays to destroy them.

He's not on PH anymore (not since beginning of July).

I don't believe he "represented the motorist" appropriately.

He is a hero, a modern day Robin Hood (with an angle grinder), I would guess he is a threat to national security (and finances) and is therefore esconsed in Guantanimo Bay, the usual holiday destination for anyone defying New Labia....

I have tasked him with destroying all the fking SPECS cameras on the A628 towards Manchester. Never have I had the misfortune of seeing such backwards, robotic and bad driving which slowed every time people drove went under one of the gantries.

It's almost like they are taking the piss given that the A628 turns into such a totally camera-less great road (but technically harder to drive well / fast) when it goes over the Pennines.

Does anyone know for certain if he was the 'real' Captain Gatso, or just another keyboard warrior / pretender?

What do you mean "not on PH anymore"?

You mean he left or has he been pushed?

Is that I as in Tony Hetherington, or was it merely Tony speculating on the possible cause of absence?eek

As a motorist of long standing, may I ask WHO does represent the motorist in a manner which attracts the attention of the media? If I recall correctly, his (Captain Gatso's) sig said the motorists friend, not that he "represented" motorists. It seems many are happy for him to continue in the manner he has for the past few years judging by the interest shown from time to time by the media.

Has he broken a forum rule? I have searched his posts, and cannot find any instance of such a post... perhaps it was deleted?
I notice there was criticism of him starting a thread, then apparently not participating in it... however I highlighted then that he HAD posted further, and in any case, I too have posted then not revisited a thread for some time because of work and family commitments!

Just looking at the posts in the COAST thread, I see many posters like myself who are well below the posting rate of others, who seem to have lots of time on their hands!type

I recall the forum operated by the Cumbria Safety Camera Partnership censoring Paul Smith in similar fashion - with Steve Callaghan banning other posters on a whim, and making up new rules as he went along, then he got so wound up he terminated Paul's account and then lied about the content of a post Paul had made to try and excuse his behaviour. I do hope PistonHeads does not get involved in such antics!

So whats the score?

Has he left the forum of his own accord or has he been silenced?

If the latter, why?
I dont recall any particularly distressing stuff being posted by him, in fact he was a bit of a moderate compared to my feelings on scams....hehe

At least with communism you knew what you were dealing with.. when you believe you are in a democracy, it comes as more of a shock and disappointment!

I did not find le brave capitaine's posts offensive. I think he need to move more toward discreet protest// fighting the fire with a controlling fire .. with heat resistors. wink The late Paulie was trying to get him less "in yer face with a necklaced Gatso" ..but more subtle with reasoned attack. wink

If he lurk, I suggest he think about Paulie und his legacy und how to fight fair .. square .. but with a sharper edge on the sword. wink

Bib bash does not help. We want our Bibs. I want more Dibble types laugh I want Ian's calibre on the M6. I want Tony Rec und willcrash on the M1. I want chrispy pork chops to crackle. wink

Bantering with the Bibs.. or posting the Bib bash press with a "this ist what is say guys.. so set record straighter" wink. That ist different to a Bib BASH BASH BASH. I do not want Bib to think they are not popular. I want them to be professional und respected .. und popular because they apply fair professional judgements. wink

Now .. if the captain post again.. I hope he take on board.

By the way Millywheeled one love I think those who post anti-COAST are pure complacent planks.. who are petty small minded insular souls.. the ones I take great pleasure in directing to the local police station when they shout at me, slowly, in English for directions to the Klo laugh
