Close call at Drachten
Discussion
Leigh Morris in his Super Street Jaguar had a close call at Drachten.
The Mustang crossed lanes just in front of him and Leigh could barely avoid him.
The driver of the Mustang was okay and there was only minor damgage at the front of the car.

Cannot believe the Jag did not get tangled up it that.
Glad to hear of no injuries.
Fantastic pictures though.
Hi DragTenHeads !Glad to hear of no injuries.
Fantastic pictures though.
The tele lens needed to take pix like this distorts the distance between the cars,
on another photo (which I just cannot find right now)
you can see that Leigh had -barely- enough time to steer clear of the sliding Mustang,
and to the other track on the right side.
Good and experienced driving job though...
@Pelle : thanks for mentioning the lensman, as most of the others did not get it... ,
and also thanks for taking the pic on your site because of the PH bandwidth [sp?].
What got me thinking is the fact that a 10.90 S/ST car can lose traction so drastically,
and on the same date there were doorslammers doing 7.5, dragsters doing 7.4 ,
and Bellio managed a 4.2 (?) on the 1/8mile in his TMFC.....
The Drachten orga cannot bolt the guardrails to the floor (active airport),
but there are no spectators allowed that close to the track,
and the flex of the wall helped in absorbing the impact and reducing damage to the car.
I could/cannot attend Drachten 1 & 2 due to announcing duties @ MZA Luckau,
but will be at the dutch finals, glad to see Drachten back on the calendar.....

The Mustang is a car that runs the same (514cu) configuration for the last 20 years or so. It won't surprise me if the small tires are also 20 years old This day the owners son in law did the driving and tried nitrous on the car that allready ran 10.7 on the engine...
