Friend of mine has a 2007 R8, 6000 miles, silver with black leather and a few extras. Saw an advert for WANTED R8 here on pistonheads, and got in touch with dealer. They wanted cars on SOR but offered to buy it outright at £45k. Can you believe these people!

Man alive, that's seriously bad, don't think anyone has reported less than 60 for trade in yet, so he might have been looking for some desperate sellers and trying his luck

Dealer is taking the p155.

They're nice cars, and they're dropping, but if he bid me that I'd have to go and curl one off on his marble floor.

Well if your trying to part x thats fair enough. Who wants to be laiden with depreciating cars & too mcuh car stock thats not shifting at the moment? They are offering a price to force you not to part x it as they are not interested.

Why does he need to change it so quickly? Also I was under the impression at that end of the market everybody bought on PCPs just because the £k depn risk is potentially very large so its worth paying a little extra for the safety net of a GFV.

A lot of people who have the R8 V8 have also orders for the V10 ... that should be fun, trading up .... I can see the problems now ...

Surely the sorts of people who can afford to buy such cars are financially astute - in general - and as such would have gone for risk averse and been on the PCP. Or it was a comp car, or contract hire - i'd wager a tiny % actually bought it for cash and also a small % released equity/HP for it.

You can be as astute as you want but if your car drops from £90K to £40K it's going to hurt!

I bought it because it is an excellent car that I shall keep it for years. Do I give a fig if speculators got burned no.

My house has still lost more!

I'm guessing that you must have got bored of it quicker than expected? I'll give you £25k it. Cash.
