It's interesting that the Government and their acolytes were so keen to place the Speed camera regime at the heart of the recently announced reduction in RTA stats. Iirc the reduction was about 10% in fatalities?
I read yesterday that the USA has also seen a 10% reduction in fatalities in the most recent year reported.
Incredible how far our cameras can spread their influence.
As a matter of interest does anyone have any figures for the reduction in US personnel and families on and around airbases in recent times? As I recall motoring around some of those locations was always an opportunity for a few near misses and Suffolk seemed to be especially notorious for people driving on the wrong side of the road and bouncing off the road into ditches when a bend loomed in front of them.

Most of them are now in Iraq and Afganistan aren't they.... The road along past Lakenheath main gate is notorious for Septics having accidents on it. Its fairly straight, but where you do have bends, there are some pretty serious dips in the road. Not bad enough to see them, but bad enough that if you hit them at speed, you can ground the exhaust on a standard Astra. The yanks barrel down there, in their imported barges, try to turn in (a no no in a yank tank to start with) and hit one of these dips and the soft suspension bounces them off the road, or into the path of the on coming traffic.I read yesterday that the USA has also seen a 10% reduction in fatalities in the most recent year reported.
