A little bit of background.

Have just moved to the area.... Got myslef a nice place in one of the nicest areas in the city. The road is quiet, secluded and what I thought to be populated by professional couples and families.

Well anyway get up this morning and go out to my car. Start speaking to my new neighbour and among our pleasant chats he drops in that there is a working girls house two doors down from my place. I was a bit shocked and didnt believe him and asked him how he knows. He said he has visited a few times. I still didnt believe him so he literally gave me the number and asked me to call. I dialled the number and called. I wasnt quite sure what one is meant to say on these situations to such an establishment but after the kind lady explained what the girl looks like and in all fairness she does sound hot, she then tells me the address. Low and behold its 2 doors down from me. I have been totally oblivious to the fact but mind you I am at work most of the day.

Anyway I am not quite sure how I feel about having a knocking shop 2 doors down from my property. Is there anything I can do about it and I am sure I will get the replies say go and give her one wink but assuming that I am uncomfortable with this going on is there anything one can do about it.

Suggestions....

Well, if you want to get them investigated then surely you can, a simple call to the BiB should suffice.

If it's a nice area and they don't cause any trouble i'd just leave it be smile

..different matter if they affect your way of living though hehe ...but they're hardly going to be standing in the bay window with a flourescent pink backlight waving a "badly packed" at your dinner guests I suppose..

also depends if you have children..although even so, if there's no real risk of anything damaging I think i'd just leave it..

..might be worth going for a visit, chat to the owner get some reassurance over no dodgy activity? smile

When you say knocking shop - do you mean the place is full of prostitutes and has a queue of people outside waiting for a hand job? Or do you mean it's a woman who lives there and does a bit on the side to pay the rent?

If the former, phone the Police, if the latter, what's the problem?

Maybe I'm just being a bit of a prude and im not entirely sure why I have a problem with it but I think its the fact that its happening so close to home. Admitedley I dont have kids or anything and even though the likelihood is that there wont ever be any problem with the house its still plays at the back of your mind. For all i know the girls there could be there against their will e.g sex trafficing..

Who owns the house? Look at 'find a property' on the land registry website (not working today) and it will cost you £3 to print off a copy of the title deeds. Are the owners aware of what's going on - is the bank (assuming it's mortgaged) aware?

However, I think it would only be a problem if it deteriorated into a full on house of ill repute.

I bet that the owner/proprietor/madam will have had other neighbours doing similar.. shirley they won't mind a friendly chat from a concerned resident? if she assuages your fears about lithuanian 14 year olds getting bent over against their will then it's all good, right? and if not, then shop her. sorted thumbup

Have you bought or are you renting? If you bought then I am sure the previous owner must have known!
