I am aware of the generosity of PHers with sports/supercars in using them for the benefit of others. You only need to look at the Headly Court thread, or the kindness shown by those who donate rides to the Sporting Bears, to see what a difference we can make, and how those of us who are fortunate enough to own these cars can use them to help others.

In a similar vein, a friend of mine has asked me to get together some very special cars for a very special day on Thursday 21st August. Starlight is a charity that helps children with serious and terminal illnesses. They provide distractions and fun days for the children and their parents.

Link here: http://www.starlight.org.uk/

They are holding their annual fun day at Popham Airfield, just off the A303/M3 near Winchester. The day will run from 10am to 5pm. The day is largely a day for giving the children rides in planes and helicopters, but they are also trying to gather some sports/supercars for rides, both at the airfield (mown grass, low speed) and/or for a quick ride on the public roads, or even just parked up for the children to see. It's a very unofficial day, so we can play it by ear to an extent too. They are expecting around 350 people, comprised of children and their families, so it's a big day for the charity.

I'm looking for supercars and generous owners to provide a bit of entertainment for these very brave children during what can be difficult and traumatic times for them (and their parents). They really do appreciate the time away from hospital, and their parents appreciate seeing them happy for a few hours too! If you would like to help please reply to this thread or send me a PM. Equally if you would like to make a donation, please let me know.

If it helps, I'm hoping to pull some personal strings and try to get some seriously tasty bits of kit there too (F40, F50 etc) but if anyone can offer their car I'd be very grateful.

Any questions please just ask, and thank you in advance.

Will

Hey Will,

What are you after for this event? At the bottom you quote super cars and at the top its sportcars aswell.

If your after sports cars then I can bring the liz and try and stimulate interest with some Nobles, TVRs, Vipers and such from the B'mouth area?

Any good?

Hi Chris,

We're looking for anything that the children will find fun and interesting - so Nobles, Vipers TVRs etc are all very welcome, and gratefully received. What we don't have capacity for is a huge PH/Virginia Waters style turnout though, hence the selective posts.

FYI at the moment we're provisional on an F40, and have committment from a 355 Spider (above), two Cerberas, a Chim and a 360 Spyder. I'll be there in a Caterham too.

Will.

Thanks Chris - please do pass on the message now. A Thursday is very inconvenient for most people so the earlier we can ask the better. Perhaps if you could direct them to this thread so we can keep up to date with numbers?

I live in Winchester and might be able to get the time off work (diary permitting) would another caterham be of interest. I know sone and other kids love sitting in it and hearing the exhaust etc.

Let me know if you are interested and I will consult diary and wife. I also know a few guys with Astons in Winchester who might be interested.

I can offer a 996 turbo and may be able to organise a Huey helicopter (though it can only carry over 16s due to CAA restrictions). Let me know if either of these are of interest.

Thanks for all those offers - all much appreciated. A CGT would be fantastic, as sadly the F50 will be unable to make it. As per my PM I'll let you know about the Huey too.

Any more offers, please let me know! And thanks again, it should be a great day if the weather holds....

I may be able to bring one of these in the afternoon subject to operational requirements. The kids usually like to have a poke around them,,,, no rides in it unfortunatly

In the morning I might be able to bring along a VX220 Turbo or a Monaro VXR. (NOT THE TWINTOP)

If any are not super enough or not right for the event please say.
