Good god no. Imagine all the complaints they'd be for him sitting on the bonnets of the cars as he always used to, as well as being as boring as watching paint drying.

Yes, we need 20mins on the new vauxhall vectra, an article on tyre tread depth affecting stopping distances, followed by a survey of motorway services pie prices.

Totally, what they should be doing is devoting an hour to comparing all the different Mondeo models, that makes much better TV.

The lines are now pretty clear i think between 5th gear and top gear.

The former is a motoring show, the latter is an entertainment show about motoring. Nothing wrong in either, just not apples and apples thats all.

Why the feck do people complain about Top Gear not doing enough stuff about average cars????

These people are retarted, nobody wants to watch a show about buying a used Mk4 Astra Diesel, and I bet all the complainers wouldn't watch it either saying it wasn't interesting/fun enough.

Top Gear is excellent because it is about people enjoying cars and driving (what PH is all about also).

I think both EDLT and FunkyNige intended for their posts to be interpreted in a tongue in cheek sort of way wink (I hope!)

I do wish they had more new cars though...

We had about 4mins of the Lambo and 911GT2 (we didn't even get to see the Porsche lap round the track) last week then we were off driving trucks through walls etc

+1

45 minutes of the Lambo would have been good

I have a love/hate relationship with top gear.. love seeing all the latest greatest cars, hate them planks trying to be funny and failing and also hate having to watch some boring tosser 'star' talk about whatever is going on in there life at the moment, although watching them do a lap is ok. I don't really want to watch them drive around in hgvs etc either but fk it it's not like i've got much better to do at that time on a sunday.

more cars, less bullst please

I appreciate that it's a typo, but I'm sure you can understand why I found this post so funny! wink

Yeah, totally agree with that. The spinning in clouds of tyre smoke and screaming was very funny, not to mention 'very GT2', but I would have liked to have seen this followed up with a (huge inverted commas here) 'proper' review of the car. I was also quite narked that we never found out how quick it was.

I think they are funny, always have a few laugh out loud moments each episode.

Star in a Car is boring but it gives an oppourtunity to take a slash and make a brew.

Just a case of lowest common denominator.

The lorry segment was made for the lager-swilling, beer-bellied, mouth-breathing neanderthal who thinks that monster-trucks is 'good entertainment'.

P.S. The time's not even here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/topgear/show/powerlaps.shtmlnono

Other than that, I still love it and it's still the king of Sunday evening veg-out tele.
