green s on m4 hardshoulder saturday

on the m4 heading towards cardiff, was coming down the outside lane in heavy traffic and spotted a green s on the hard shoulder, not too serious I hope?

First time I'm spotted and I was broken down!!!

We began to overheat queueing to get through the tolls but thought we'd be ok to get home once we started moving again. The queue after the bridge was worse but we managed to limp to Magor services for a cool down then overheated again so crawled to McDonalds at the Coldra and filled up with a gallon of water before getting back to Oakdale.

Many thanks go to the traffic police who stopped to help and the guys in the black Impreza who offered water.

I'm sure the fan wasn't spinning as I was fine till we hit the queue at Magor. I filled up at the Coldra and got home fine. But the temp rises quickly when idling in traffic or stationary. No wI have to follow all the advice given on the forum to try and isolate the problem......

If the fan wasn't spinning try bypassing the termperature sensor by hard wiring it - should tell you if its something as simple as a fuse. If it now works doing this, I'd replace the temperature sensor.

Listen carefully to the water pump to check its OK as well.
