need more grip...slicks?
Discussion
Went to the Pod the weekend in my LS engined Cerbera, Getting off the line was challenging to say the least! Managed 11.7/126.5mph, i have seen a number of people advertising ex BTCC slicks cheap, these any good for drag racing? I dont want to buy NEW MT's or whatever i'm not that keen!
What tyres were you running?
I swapped my rears for Toyo R888's and knocked an instant 0.7 seconds off my ET.
Times got better as i lowered the pressure, eventually 12 psi.
Standard Chim 450 with 60 gas got a 12.2 @ 113.
1.85 second 60 foot.
I reckon they are a good compromise as you get loads more grip, they are road legal and not too much stress on the clutch and gearbox etc that you may get from full slicks.

Btcc or circuit slicks are hard compound and are designed to warm up over time and the side wall is hard to so wont flex either. Personaly i would rather run road tyres than waste money on circuit tyres. The softer the better for drag racing. Only get tyres designed for drag racing if you want grip, But if you do get grip running a high powered engine it will give greif to the weakest part of your drive train

I have loads of used 250/640 r18 slicks that i used to run on the front of my cerb. Would fit on your rears.
Also have 4 compomotive 18"x9" MO 6 alloys i dont have a use for..
