I've got mesh on mine and never had a problem with stones, leaves, etc, etc. Discussed in this thread:

Another good reason for replacing all three rads, one after the other:

Pi**ing water all over the garage floor!!

Mine were regularly cleaned out (both flushed and debris removed); OPC warranty does the trick though!

I guess i have about £50K to spend, private sale.

There are two cars on the Porsche GB web site under £50k, just Both will come fully prepared and with the 12 month warranty which is vital with used Porsche's. You may even get to barter the price down a bit if you are pushy with the dealership.

I always said that I would buy one of these when prices at OPC started with a "4."

Time to go shopping....!!

One of the ones on the OPC site is ex Steve Wonder (see photo)

I remember reading that ad and thinking how off-putting it was, specifically:

PLEASE DONT CONTACT ME IF YOUR SHORT ON THE ASKING PRICE I DONT CARE WHAT OTHER TURBOS ARE BEING OFFERED AT AND IM NOT LOOKING TO EXCHANGE UNLESS YOU HAVE A HIGH SPEC 997 TURBO.

IF YOU HAVENT GOT THE MEANS PLEASE DONT CALL ME EXPECTING A TEST DRIVE DICK LOVETT IS A BETTER BET.

Agreed - I thought the same. I can understand the guys concern but he could have put it a lot better. Makes him come across as an idiot and not someone who you'd want to buy a car off.

Totally agree, he sold a sc a while back & had no end of trouble. Hence this stupid advert which is meant to deter the timewasters, obviously it's stopping genuine buyers & still te timewasters are calling

comes across as overly aggressive

define timewasters? people offering low and if so how low is offensive? (just mild curiosity)

Buyers who dont bother to turn up, who dont compare like with like etc....

You can quickly get an idea of whats reasonable from the classifieds here or on autotrader. When the car is reasonably priced throwing a low bid is just taking the piss, but if it is priced just like the majority then you have something to bargain with.

Just over £50k should get you a nice low mileage 02 car privately, trade are bidding circa 48/49k, so for the hassle of a private sale expect to pay £51/£52k for the right example. From a main dealer £56/57k would be possible.
The trouble is most private sellers ask retail money, so £54-57k & most private buyers want to pay trade money, so £49k. The private seller will not sell for trade, otherwise why go through the hassle, he can just have a dealer arrive & pay cash, no hassle. Bottom line if you are prepared to be realistic you will get a lovely 02/52 car privately for that £51/2k.

Have to say I don't blame the guy, selling a Porsche private is a nightmare and I had loads of time wasters and half wits who couldn’t afford my car at a good price. Trying to judge a car and the owner on a few lines of text (other than the basic info mileage, colour, etc) is pointless and a genuine buyer would go look at the car, maybe ring him up to get a feel for the situation and evaluate the car and owner in the flesh if seriously interested.

Wouldn't me off, if I was a time waster I'm sure it would though

How about this one? It's mine. The mileage is a little higher than some, perhaps. The Propark sensor works and is legal!!

Nobody's mentioned the heat shields .. They seem to go regularly enough , or at least the brackets holding them in place .

Are you in danger of doing damage running a TT without it's heat shield??

Also , there's a buyer's guide on this months 911&PW , but it's a bit disappointing as it doesn't gat into the nitty gritty of any problems to look out for .. Then again , maybe there aren't any!!

Shoite , I'd LOVE one of 'em.

Have you seen this one ... Comes with a gun holster .. and chck out the mirrors for external colour....yikes

that two-tone dash is bizarre! why leave the top a different colour? shame as I like the "matador red" colour

Its not what he said its the way that he said it that put me off. I certainly wouldn't go to view the car based on that ad.

The current 911 and Porsche World has a 'How-to-buy' feature on the 996 turbo ... could be worth a quick trip to WHSmiths.
