I doubt if the battery would be going anywhere at all, as it is neatly and fairly securely tucked away, hence the reason why a lot of people struggle to swap out the battery.

The CERBERA battery is pretty much wedged in place and is an absolute nightmare to get out/in. The space it takes up is surrounded by the bodywork/air boxes etc. Two of those big velcro coins from Halford would hold it in place just nicely. Put em on the front edge of the battery and lower into place...

Not sure, I think the Varta 072/069 changed dimensions about 6-12 months ago, so not sure if it still fits?

Check you have the right configuration of terminals when you purchase and ideally take the old one with you to compare the size.

Oh a post I can contribute some info to. Bought and fitted a Halford No. 72 only yesterday so can confirm they still fit fine. Is missing the securing flange that was on the old battery had so is not clamped down with the bracket as much - However popped it all back in with the securing plate just butting up next to it and it is not goin anywhere in a hurry. Funnily enough I found Gazzabs old thread (hence knew about the 72) and was expecting the worst, what with the infamous nut and all. However on mine it just lifted neatly over the top of that on the way out and the new one slid back in with only a small push sideways to clear the nut. Chuffed to bits as had cleared the afternoon for the task .

Not all 072 are the same size. The Halfords one fits per TC.

One last question. May seem a silly one. Which terminal do you take off first? I assume which ever it is, to put back on is the reverse of this.

Battery changed no problems. Bought a Unipart GBA3072. £47.

However, still sluggish when I started her up. Can the battery be 'down on power' because its been stood in a shop?

Well that was a bit of a waste of £47 . You have either a resistance between battery and starter motor, or a problem with the starter motor.

Do you have a meter before you throw more hard earned at the situation?

I wouldn't say that's money wasted, at four years old, that battery wasn't going to last for ever, plus it's the cheapest / less labour intensive thing to check.

Have you fully charged the battery yet ?

Has it got enough cranking capacity ? As £47 sounds a tad "skinny" for a Cerb battery.

Problem solved. Turned out to be the starter motor....although the battery was virtually duff too.

Put a brand new one on after spending ages sourcing one. As totallpaul said, its off a Nissan Maxima 3.0 inj V6 88-94 J30 model. Part number ADN 11248. Cost £157+vat. I also came across another part number which according to a lot of shops is the same one, but made by Hella. JS754. Didn't check it, as went on totallpaul's imfo.

If this helps too. The supplier for the ADN 11248 is ADL (01622 833007). They cant sell you one, but they can tell you a local shop.
