Set out to raise some money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association by running the London Marathon last weekend.

Unbelievebly sadly, David collapsed at the end of the race and subsequently died.

He was 22 years old.

His fundraising target was £1,000.

I just thought it would be great if PHers could look at his fund-raising page and, if they are able, possibly make a contribution to his charity.

Link here to David's page here: www.justgiving.com/drogers

Cheers

A very worthy cause. It is a terrible disease. I had the pleasure of meeting an ex-RAF fighter pilot last year who has the disease. He is still sharp as a button mentally. He even got a double entendre that I missed, and that's saying something hehe

This is the disease that my Grandad died of. I'll donate once my loan comes in (only have £10 for petrol left in my bank account).

Will donate in the morning - Mum, on page one, who had no idea of what was to come, moved me to tears!

Kids shouldn't die before their parents.

That is terrible. I'm glad to see Justgiving donated £250.

The sudden change in tone of comments is awful.

If you guys are talking about the comments on the 3rd page look at the dates - donated well before the event...

Nono thats what we meant - it's awful how it goes so suddenly from everything being fine to everything being so very, very not fine. Really brings it home.

Morbid curiosity but what makes a 22yr old lad die from running a bit..what happened to the poor sod?

David suffered hypoatraemia following kidney failure. It was caused by a sodium deficiency while running the 26.2mile race.

What a tragedy, when you think of all the yobs around and yet this young man selflessly tried to raise money in memory of his grandfather and friend and that had to happen - life definitely isn't fair.

Donated. He died too young, doing something to help others. A true hero.
